1. Clean water
2. Stopping air pollution
3. Providing for safer, more natural habitats
(Also, the guy after me provides an answer that's correct, but not necessarily in terms of preservation, but more of a theoretical approach to the problem. This is the standard interpretation in ecology.)

1. Let the animals eat each other.
2. Kill off some elephants in overpopulated areas.
3. Let ebola spread... oh, also let small pox back into the population of humans.
Edit: For those who are giving me minuses, my answers are perfectly good. 1. Allowing the animals to each other allows for evolution in which traits of the survivors will be passed on. 2. Overpopulation of elephants is damaging the environment. They trample on everything including plants, etc. Reducing the population does wonders for the whole ecosystem. 3. Biodiversity means many diverse biological things, those include the ebola virus and the small pox. Removing small pox is removing biodiversity. As harsh as it sounds, it qualifies for preserving biodiversity. :P

- Purify our air. Carbon Dioxyde, Carbon monoxyde, methane and most polluant gases are nocive to some species.
- Purify our water. Life needs clean water, and without it species will die one afeter the others.
- Preserve natural habitats.
All this can be done by slowing down on our energy consumption (cars, heating, lighting...) and slowing down the industrialisation. We must be more responsible in our usage of natural ressources.
