like driving down the road like it falls out of gear youd be drivin and next thing you know your rpms are goin up but you are slowin down and it slips goin into second and mecahnincs got any addvice or dodge owners

on that old of a truck it probably needs the transmission rebuilt on it,one thing i would do though is get it warmed up and check the fluid level in it,if they get low enough on fluid they will slip,but if you have any miles at all on it ,it may be time to get a used transmission or get that one re-built,once they start slipping they usually don't last to long,so be careful it may go all the way out,good luck with it and merry x-mas.

Have the bands adjusted and the fluid changed, all of it, not just what's in the pan. If it still does it, or there is a lot of trash in the pan when it's off, then you need a trany rebuild or swap.

Unless its a 318 under hood ditch it its not worth the money to fix the damn thing for 1700 bucks at transmission shop its how much they tried to charge me at one I have 93 Dakota with 318 and I am waiting on my parts to come in to do it myself at 263,000 miles on truck.

Um ....Let me guess ! ...Its a 1991 Dodge Dakota ? Thats normal ..even if its a automatic 2WD ...! Thats usually after 90K ! ...Thats it
