Corn is so easy to grow that you don't need to aerial layer it (why would you bother?) Aerial layering is something you do with woody plants to clone them when regular cuttings are hard to strike. My experience with layering was many moons ago helping someone trying to propagate from a mature Lychee tree.

Put damp sphagnum moss around a node cover it with a plastic and tape the plastic to the stem of the plant. Check periodically to replenish water if necessary. May be hard to do since corn is herbaceous.

A CORN PLANT CANNOT BE AIR LAYERED.
Air layering can only be carried out in plants having hard branches.EX:lichi, pomegranate
