Would u put a rubber band in your hair before you cut it, if you were alone and couldnt afford a prof. cut?

It depends on whether you are a boy or girl and how long you hair is and how you want it to be finished.
If you are a boy with short hair then I would not do it yourself because it is difficult to get the layering, and etc etc. If you want a buzz cut go for it, just make sure you feel your head when you're done to make sure you don't leave any part un-cut.
If you're a boy or girl with a certain hairstyle you want to acheive or want to maintain, get it doen professionally.
If you are a girl with no layers and medium to long hair then don't tie a rubberband but wet your hair a little and comb it straight, then cut the ends, have a friend help you or a family member.
As for layers, if you can wet you hair just a little and comb it out you should be able to see the layers and be able to trim it, if not then I would definately get it done professionally.

No. I suggest not cutting your own hair, EVER. Unless you yourself are a professional hairdresser. Usually the results are disasterous and you don't want to leave your house for weeks until it grows out.
