They do it all the time on here about many different relgious and non-relgious groups. Catholics, Mormons, Wiccians, and many others have had many non-truthful things posted about them. I guess the thing i understand the least is when you tell them that what they are saying is not true they just tell you that you don't know anything about your beliefs.

Some people, too many actually, believe the first thing they hear or they believe what they want to believe. If a Christian believe some horrible lie about Muslims, no amount of truth will change their mind. They have 'evidence' that Muslims are as bad as they thought and they become fixated on that one thing. Too many people are wearing blinders that they refuse to take off.

It's just human to want to make yourself look right and make other people look wrong, I guess.
And I think a lot of it is ignorance. When it comes to those religions you mentioned (Mormons, Catholics, and Wiccans), it seems as if most people believe anything they hear, even if it makes absolutely no sense. I've done a bit of research on Wiccans and I think they are very misunderstood. I haven't noticed to much misunderstanding towards Catholics on here, but maybe I'm just not seeing the questions where it's happening. And I AM Mormon so I can say that I know Mormons are very much misunderstood by the majority of people.

Let's be honest. Only those super religious folks will ever know what their religion is all about. Its like how one school subject is different from one another, so will religion be.

Religion competes. Religion is suppose to point to the truth. Each Religion embraces beliefs that is suppose to be the holder of absolute truth. One Religion is bound to have conflicting beliefs when compared to another religion.

To be honest, many regular folks don't investigate the claims of one religion against another. Many are ignorant and only accept the words of their religious leaders as the interpretation of the truth. That is because, most probably, they don't want to think .

It is not so much that people like to tell lies about religions other than their own; it is because many people are either ignorant through laziness, or deluded because of demonic deception. Many individuals simply do not care to ask questions or research other religions. Coupled with this is the fact that satan encourages laziness, apathy, and ignorance in the human mind so as to promote discord and division in the human race.

I tell people the truth about Mormonism. It is a lie. I will show you this website. Now many Mormons will call me a liar, Mormon basher, half truth teller, someone who doesnt know anything about Mormonism. But they fail to show me any lie, or half truth, what ever that is. And if you dont understand why the ones you mentioned are talked about, you need Christ in your life. Especially Wiccans.

I would say consider the source.
I have been in R&S long enough to know that there are those who are lonely, bored, if not just instigative & mean-spirited who seek attention FIRST, and secondly to slam any and all, pit everyone against each other, without any real belief in anything. They simple say inflammatory things about everyone within R&S for entertainment value alone.

You should be extremely careful when trying to learn about Mormons from others. There are many who hate the Mormons and spread lies, distortions, and conspiracy theories about them. Others think they understand Mormon doctrine because of "what they've heard," but are actually misinformed.

I see this a lot with atheists taking things from the old testament out of context. After being corrected so many times you would think they would get the picture.

I also see this with Atheists or Christians concerning translations of the Qur'an, in order to make it look bad as well.

How do you know if they are lying? Maybe they are true. For example, many wouldn't believe if I said Jesus is a sexist but he is. The person may say he's a Prince of Peace and I'd say Jesus is just an emotional, stupid in a sense, and is a sexist. Then they'd say I'm lying and all atheists lie.

It's human to hold on to anything that confirms your beliefs and disputes others'. People don't like to question things that agree with them because no one likes to be wrong. I've seen this nonsense from all sides. It makes my faith in humanity drop exponentially.
