You see, in most religions, people think it's ok to kill in the name of God.

I dunno. I appreciate many aspects of christianity but this is one where I passionately disagree. Taking a human life is murder in my opinion even if it is under the veil of 'crime and punishment'. The executioner and everyone involved in taking a human life are murderers, regardless of their reason. We should strive to be more compassionate than those who offend us. Life in prison is a suitable and humane punishment. I will never embrace murder under any circumstance. Killing someone in self defense is acceptable if absolutely necessary, but premeditated death ~ murder ~ is unacceptable.
The practice of taking a life for a life is hypocritical in my world.

Where do they say it's OK to kill people? And oh, don't judge the whole of Christianity on the actions of a few.

Because, as long as the government says that it is legal killing, it's not murder! What was that about not being able to trust morality based on social norms....must have just been the wind....

Yeah, I agree with you. It's not OK to kill people but it is OK to light them on fire for an eternity if they insult you.
On the other hand, it may be OK to kill people in Texas because that is God's country.

It is OK to kill under certain circumstances. War, Capital punishment, self defence. The reason why is based on Genesis 9:6 "Whoever sheds man's blood, By man his blood shall be shed, For in the image of God He made man."

ok the error here is in a couple of things.
1st off the commandment thou shalt not kill is a mistranslation and really is thou shalt not murder
2ndly the Bible tells us not to kill anyone by our own hand or judgment unless its self defence, but does speak about authorities having the right to kill to bring justice.

I've never said that. I believe the loss of any life is tragic, and to be prevented if at all possible. I don't know what Christians you come across but none of the ones I know think it is ok to kill people!

It's not.
Christianity is against war (strict criteria for just war which is not possible with modern warfare) and the death penalty which kill people.

People who think it is ok to kill in the name of God commit the worst form of blasphemy. Satan has captured their spirit and brainwashed them to think good is evil and evil is good. Their souls are hoodwinked.
