I was in my mom's room with her, talking about differant things. Then she took a drink from her cup and spit it up and fell back on her bed, it seemed like she had a hard time breathing and shook for a moment. I was going to call for help. But then she straighted up and said she was ok, but wasn't in the mood to talk any more. I do not know what happened and wonder if I should ask her what happen. What am I to do?

I would discuss it with someone who is close to her. I'd ask if I could speak to them in confidence and get some feedback and direction from them. You could also call your/her doctor to discuss it. But you should do something if she's not willing to talk to you about it. Good luck!

OMG! That must have scared the begeezes out of you.

I guess what is most important right now is if she looks like she is going to be OK.

Part of determining that, involves what she was drinking from that cup you mentioned. If she was drinking alcohol, and she choked because her reflexes are so badly affected by being drunk, then you may still have good reason to be concerned. So if I am right, & she has been drinking booze, then don't listen to her when she says she will be alright, call 911 NOW, so that EMS can check her out.

I don't want to scare you any more than you already are unnecessarily, but there have been documented cases of people drinking so heavily that they just fell asleep and asphyxiated on their own vomit, or stopped breathing in their sleep because their senses were so dulled by the booze that they lost the involuntary reflex to breathe.

If you aren't sure, then call on a trusted neighbour to come in and assess the situation for you.

Better safe than sorry!

Maybe, instead of swallowing, she accidentally tried to breathe when she put the liquid into her mouth?

Hon, just ask your mom if she's ok.... or if she needs something or someone.. that would be the best thing to do

Very strange, did you talk with your mom about this let her know it scared you. Then go from there.
