I'm lost spiritually but believe in G-D. I'm studying Judaism, Christianity & Islam at the same time but haven't chosen my path yet.

I want to put aside my old life and move to Jerusalem for at least a year. I'm an Australian law graduate but want to live and work doing something spiritual/religious/scholarly, so I'm not really interested in 'secular' work or something without real spiritual purpose. I don't mind volunteer work either. All I know so far is Kibbutz which is like outdoor farm work, but is there anything else? I'd love to go to just study but don't have the funds for tuition, accomodation etc.

Any suggestions on how I could achieve this?

gaillee0 - Thanx. I didn't expect the responses I got. I do pray to God for guidance, and that's when the idea started to come to me. I don't feel like partying on some tropical island like I wanted to before, I just want to be in Jerusalem and think a lot. Maybe I won't find an answer, but it's a good place to try I think

Oh my! You really jumped into some diverse teachings, didn't you? I too, have studied multiple religions but, for the sake of knowledge more than searching.

I understand your desire to go to Jerusalem as I too, desire to go there and experience much of what I believe! However, sometimes, God has other ideas for us.

Let me ask, have you prayed and asked God to direct your spiritual path? Have you poured out your heart to God, and ask for HIS guidance, wisdom and purpose for HIM, in your life? If not, I would ask that you do so. God will make a way where noone else can! He is faithful and He is true! "Putting away your old life" says tons to my heart! In as much, I want you to know I am going to be praying for your spiritual journey and that you will come to know the One true God who created your very soul!

Blessings,
gail

Sorry I am kind of out of that field now, but I know there are a number of work projects under the Israeli government which will allow people to work on a Kibbutz for a specified time like a year. I would go online and contact the Israeli government. I was somewhat involved in that during the 1980's and things change so I may be misleading you. But try it out.

It won't make you spiritual, but it will be an eyeopener for you.

I am a Muslim, and I do believe that one has to travel to find one's spiritual self. You've made the right decision.

If I were you, I would begin my spiritual journey not in Jerusalem, which would only disappoint you, but from Damascus, Syria, and from the Omayyad Mosque in particular. It is at this spot that there was a Roman temple, a church, and now it's a mosque. It's here that John the Baptist's head and Saladin are buried. And it is here that Muslim believe Jesus will return. The mosque is the only one in history that was visited by a Pope [John-Paul II].

I have not visited it myself, but that's what I would have done, if I were you.

I have studied some of the other religions, and have chosen Christianity, for a number of reasons. In that I don't believe you need to move there, as Jesus was talking to a woman. Basically she said about where to worship, and Jesus basically said it doesn't matter. Pray to the Lord for guidance, Drew near to Him, and He will draw near to you. If you like, please E mail me and I will discuss religion with you. I will pray that the lord will guide you in this matter.

Salam

To the east and west belongs to Allah SWT, what is wrong with your present location that you can't make your own little paradise for you to lay in. Your searching for ropes that don't exist. Surely you have to get out of the walls of the bucket before you can run on the edges of time.
When will you wake up, when you are bashing your head off the wall too? Protien gathers on those walls and you know what happens with that in your brain.. or is that totally brain dead for you too?

See Rev 2:9 and Rev 3:9. The Heavenly father is YHVH and His Son is named YAHOSHUA. Follow Scripture, and follow the Almighty. I do not think they will lead you to Jerusalem!

Jerusalem is easily-known through fact the land of many prophets, peace be upon all of them. Muslims revere all the "Biblical" prophets, inclusive of Abraham, Moses, David, Solomon, and Jesus - peace be upon all of them. all of them taught the Oneness of God. Jerusalem became into the 1st "Qibla" for Muslims - the area in direction of which Muslims became in prayer. It became right into some years into the Islamic venture (sixteen months after the Hijrah), that Muhammad (peace be upon him) became into recommended to alter the Qibla from Jerusalem to Mecca (Qur'an 2:142-one hundred forty four). it somewhat is stated that the Prophet Muhammad pronounced, "There are merely 3 mosques to which you will desire to embark on a adventure: the sacred mosque (Mecca, Saudi Arabia), this mosque of mine (Madinah, Saudi Arabia), and the mosque of Al-Aqsa (Jerusalem)." it somewhat is Jerusalem that Muhammad (peace be upon him) visited in the time of his nighttime adventure and ascension (pronounced as "Israa and Miraaj"). in one nighttime, the angel Gabriel miraculously took the Prophet from the Sacred Mosque in Mecca to the Furthest Mosque (Al-Aqsa) in Jerusalem. He became into then taken as much as the heavens to be shown the signs and indicators of God. The Prophet met with previous prophets and led them in prayer. He became into then taken decrease back to Mecca.
