I have 2 of those standard size wire cages and I was wondering if there was a way you could connect the two. I tried lifting up one side on each and tieing them together, but Mister (my djungie dwarf hamster) slipped out! Do I have to apply a hole and put a tube in it?

I don't think you can do it if they aren't the same brand or type in which you can connect them with tubes. if you really want 2 cages go to PETCO and buy the special kind that you can connect w/ tubes. you might also consider only using one cage. you don't want to break on of them, especially if they have plastic cause then u can't fix them. Hope this helps!

i do no longer think of there's a keep that does that... possibly there might desire to be. A hamster, properly a teddy undergo hamster can value for around $10, and for the cage, you do no longer truthfully want a actual cage, a pitcher aquarium can artwork besides. purely eliminate the lid, positioned bedding interior, after which you have have been given a cage! A plastic bin may additionally artwork besides.

im guessing you have just 2 plain wire cage and not some type of wire, plastic mix cage like habitrail,SAM,critter trail with the plastic tubes... other wise it would be as simple as buying plastic tubes to connect them at the pet store...they are all interchangeable have been for the past few years,

but when it comes to metal cages it harder but i have seen it done... best way to do it is set them both side by side, you connect them using PVC pipe... plastic plumbing pipe found at a local hardware store, lowes home depot... these pipes can be connected permanetly just by using glue.. and they vary in sizes and have connector pipes larger than the pipe itself...

so what you do is take a pipe large enough for the pet you have to fit through eaisily... now get 4 connectors that are slightly larger than the pipe itself "sleeve" cut a hole in both cages the size of the pipe and no bigger now down the pipe a couple inches on each side put on a sleeve, glue it in place... then stick the open part of the pipe into the cage up to the newly glued "and hardend" sleeve so it fits snugly, now glue on the other sleeve inside the cage and make sure the pipe fits snugly between the metal and there isnt enough room for him to get between the sleeve, and metal cage itself...
do it to the other side and your done...

another good trick is use a threaded cap on the end inside the cages that way if you want to clean one side you can cap it off and clean it so your pet cant escape while you clean

this will kinda give you an idea but done with plastic

you might be able to connect the cages by attaching tubes that lead from one cage to the other. i did this with my cages and t worked out fine and my hamster had more space to run and play
