what are some reason for modern immigration (push and pull factors) ?? where do most of todays immigrants come from??

The vast majority of immigrants have always migrated seeking better opportunities. Think about it, if you are comfortable were you are, why would you emigrate to a foreign land were you likely don't know the language or culture and face difficult conditions?

Most come from Muslim countries, Mexico, Latin America and other third world countries. They come because America is so much better than what they have at home; better govenment, better education, better health care (no matter what Hillary says), a higher standard of living, more religious freedom...just for starters.

Economic - to move away from poverty, typically Eastern Europe to Western Europe.

Asylum Seekers, to escape political instability, religious and othern persecution, human rights violations, typically from Iraq to Western Europe.

Retirement, move from industrialised country with high cost of living to poorer country with lower cost of living and better weather. Typically from UK to Spain.

To work and send money home to family in poor country, typically work in England send money to Bangladesh or work in USA send money to Mexico.
