AS OF 2006 THE DEPARTMENT STOPPED HIGH SPEED CHASES IN NEIGHBORHOOD UNLESS IT WAS A MAJOR FELONY CASE.

BEFORE THAT USUALLY ONE A WEEK IS WHAT I HAD IN THE FIELD IN SEATTLE(68-73)

It will depend on the jurisdiction, individual officer and department pursuit policy.

In my department, pursuits get called off by supervisors very quickly unless a serious felony is involved.

I know "less aggressive" officers who prob have never been in a high speed pursuit. I also know of motivated dirty hunters who get into 1 every couple of months.

What do you consider "high speed pursuit"? I was involved in a number of chases where the speed never got above 60 mph.

I was in two in my first 2.5 years. (A car jacker and a drive-by shooter.)
They are not fun, they are nerve racking. Thankfully they ended in foot pursuits so I could burn off all that adrenaline that had built up.

I've got guys retiring, with 30 years on, that have never been in one.

We have a very restrictive policy on pursuits too.

The speed depends on the car being pursued.

Depends on where you are. I've had three of them so far over my entire career.
