Winter is here and I HATE going out in this stuff and excercising. Treadmills are boring and I do enough walking at my job. I tried out an elliptical machine at Sears and really liked how it made my body feel after I used it. Are they worth the money to get one? If so--are they really good to excercise with daily? Health benifits? Thanks.

any kind of quality fitness equipment is going to cost some $. it's only worth the money if you use it consistently, just like a gym membership. if the odds are greater that it will end up being an expensive clothes rack in a spare bedroom don't make the purchase.

i know how you feel. It's too cold to run outside and treadmills are too boring for me also. But I have an elliptical in my basement and I never use it although I like it much better than the treadmill. Even if you do commit to it, they'll lose their flare quickly. Rather than waste your money on one machine, I'd suggest joining a local gym. Then you can work out on a variety of less boring machines that work every part of your body.

Well jumping jacks don't cost anything, except a good pair of shoes that won't kill your foot while doing it. 440 jumping jacks = running a mile, but that varies depending on if you're very good in one and not the other. Running doesn't cost anything either. Jump rope costs something but not a whole lot. Then there's burpees, and other types of calisthenic workouts that don't require any equipment.
