I have really long hair and my friend is kind of jealous of it. She told me I should donate my hair to locks for love. I'm biracial and my hair doesn't grow fast. My hair is my favorite physical feature about myself, it makes me feel beautiful and confident. I really don't want to give that away. And cutting my hair is is a permanent thing, black hair doesn't grown a lot so its not like it will grow back in 2 years, it'd take 10. She says I'm a extremly selfish person, I disagree, I vouleenter at the homeless shelter, tutor children, do cancer/aids walks, and dontate money and clothing to various organaizations. Does not donating my hair make me selfish?

Your friend is being a bit ridiculous. You should feel no guilt about having long hair...particularly since you donate your time and volunteer in other ways. There are many people who donate their hair....you do not need to do everything for everyone else. It's a necessity to sometimes do something for yourself, even if it is as simple as keeping your own hair. This isn't selfish on your part at all.

You are absolutely not selfish! I have decided to grow out my hair just to give it to Locks of Love, but I definitely don't expect other people to donate simply because they have particularly long or beautiful hair. Hey, it's your body and it's your hair! Don't let it bother you.

By the way, the kids do have to have alopecia, which is a disorder that causes permanent baldness (the wigs are not, as most people believe, for kids having chemo). As far as I know, the kids don't have to pay for the wigs, but they have to have a note from a doctor saying they have the disorder and have to write or have a parent write an essay stating why they should have a wig.

Well, you'll eventually have to cut your hair off and unless you're planning on keeping your own locks, then I would recommend donating them to people in need. I wouldn't say you're selfish because everyone loves their hair, but sometimes it's nice to think outside of the head and see how something like hair can help those who are suffering.

Besides, if she's making you donate it...then you don't have to listen to her. Maybe she's jealous.

No if you hair makes you feel better about yourself you should not cut it for anyone. And she is not much of a friend if she wants to tell you stuff like that to make you feel bad so you will cut it. She is just jealous and either she will get over it or she won't.

I am a hairdresser and I cut hair for locks of love for free. I do not think you are selfish. Your apperance is important to you and you like your hair keep it. There is nothing wrong with that and you give in other ways.

I think your friend is mean and jealous I think you should tell her to butt out and mind her own business.

I know what you mean! I had a friend who was jealous of my hair and thought it made me more beautiful than her, so she called me selfish for not donating it. Personally I think that's jacked, it's your own personal decision you shouldn't feel pressured into it.

You're not selfish. I understand that you like your hair, but if you really wanted to, donate your hair. Hey, you might like your new hair cut and it'll grow back eventually!

i definitily don't think you're selfish, i wouldn't want to donate my hair if it takes a long time to grow back out...but if you had fast growing hair and it's REALLY long then you should donate it...but since you don't i don't see that as greediness. A girl's hair is very important to her....so w/e to your friend, keep the hair! =]

Dont let your friend tell you your selfish just because you like your hair. Has she donated her hair lately?

I dont think its selfish at all, and you more than make up for it anyway with all the other stuff you do!

Hope I helped?

Your friend said that? She obviously doesn't know you that well, then does she? I wouldn't say your a selfish person. If you hair is what makes you feel special then you don't have to cut it just because your friend says you should.
