My presciption says I have -1.00 in both eyes

Not bad at all.
You would probably be just legal driving without glasses.
(Not that that's a good idea: it's lethal out there, and you need all the edge you can get.)

Anything nearer than 1 metre is in perfect focus until you run out of accommodation close to your nose (how close depending largely on your age).

-1.00 is not bad. You can probably see fairly well without your glasses, but may have difficulty seeing at night or in the rain. A negative prescription means you are NEARsighted, meaning you have difficulty focusing on objects that are distant. The condition is known as myopia.

That's the lowest prescription that a reputable optometrist would prescribe corrective lenses for, normally. You are very slightly nearsighted/shortsighted.

ur prescribtion is not bad at all trust me i have 1.25 and 1.75 in my eye that has astmitasim though it seems bad trust me its not at all

actually thats the lowest strength and its usually what dr will start people with who need help but is not bad yet...through the years he should up it depending on how your eyes digress..also i believe negative means your farsighted
