As an extremely liberal Christian, I'd say "No problem," but if you have trouble with this, it wouldn't hurt to tell your boss that you need a little time off on Sunday, and go to an early service.

That should never take the place of going to church and participating in things there. Plus, the stuff on TV is for show and the scriptures are twisted so much, it isn't even the truth anymore.
I avoid the so called religious things on TV except for one when I can get it and that is Mack Lyon. He's not available everywhere, though, but he's the only one I would listen to on TV because I know he speaks the truth and follows the word of God with fear and love in his heart.

Talk with your supervisors after the holidays and ask them if you can either have Sunday morning or Sunday night off because church is really important to you. They may not agree to let you do that but by taking a stand for your beliefs, they may give it some thought and work with you.
God bless you ~ hope it all works out for you :) If not, find another job and let them know up front that you need one or the other off to worship God if they want you to work on Sundays. Or, you could go to Hobby Lobby if there is one in your area. They won't stay open on Sundays because they don't believe in missing services for work :) :)

No,your not wrong. You can't demand your schedule if your new. Maybe, after the Holidays you can ask your boss for Sunday to be your permanent day off,so you can attend church and see what He or She says. It don't hurt to ask.
God knows your situation. Read your Bible, Pray,& continue to tape church. Many churches have websites also. You are putting your best effort forth. So,don't let anyone or guilt stand in your way. The only places I know that aren't open on Sundays, are factories, offices, & Chickfilet. You may want to apply for one of these jobs, but keep the job you have until a better opportunity comes along.

Doesn't it say somewhere that Jesus doesn't care if you worship in a church or not? I swear I've heard that....
I think if you worship on your own, when you can, you'll be fine. Being a part of a religion is not about going to an organization and parading around, trying to show the strongest faith. It's about LIVING your religion, and following its standards.
I don't even think you need to Tivo the masses, unless you want to. Read your Bible, pray to God, and whatever else you'd get out of Church. That's my advice.
But, what do I know... I'm just a lowly Wiccan, right? :)

The Sabbath is more than just a day of rest. It is a day God set aside as holy. Watching mass on TV at your convenience is not what God had in mind. He's looking for His people to fellowship and worship Him in a collective way.
Just consider this ... if you have no time for God, how can you expect Him to find time for you. I know many people have chosen to forsake convenience to spend time with God when He desires and they've all been blessed many times over.

That isn't necessarily bad, but it may not be spiritually satisfying. You still need some communal worship with real, live people.
Try finding a prayer group that meets midweek, or go to an alternate mass. There are lots of them this season! Don't be afraid to step outside of your own denomination for fellowship, either. The whole point is to be with other Christians, and worship together, right? If you can't do that during the Christmas season, when can you?

Yes it is horrible. Who Tivo's church? I am fairly certain that has to be a sin!
To quote someone else who quoted someone else: "An aborignee was sitting outside a little church in Africa. He was asked why he was not inside. He responded, "The white people say god is in there" points to the little building, "I say god is out here" Pointing to the starry sky."

If you live in a place large enough to have a Kohl's, you most likely live in a place that has Sunday Mass (or Saturday anticipated Mass) some time when you do not have to work. Certainly there is more than one parish where you are.
As another response said, you are required to assist at Mass in person to fulfill your obligation.

GOD expects us to work and earn a living.
If you have Dish network try 216 from 9-3pm. Pacific
And don't listen to the mulitude of beggers on tv, or those who teach "one verse" and then blow hot air for an hour.

Mass is available on Saturday nights, Sunday mornings, and in some cities on Sunday night.
No excuses. You must attend Mass in community in order to receive the Sanctifying Grace in the Holy Eucharist.
It is a sin to miss Mass, because of work.
