My hands are dry and red from washing them all the time and using and sanitizer. I don't want to quit washing because of OCD, any advice how to get them better? I do hate hand cream but if that will help I will use some.

Consider wearing a clean, freshly washed pair of gloves changing them as needed, just like you do with your socks or your underwear. That would subject your hands to fewer washings and still keep your skin clean.

Washable cotton gloves can be found in the pharmacy near the band-aids and wrist braces and support socks. For years my relative wore them to bed after spreading medicine on his hands each night.. It made a big difference keeping the skin from cracking and bleeding.

If you want to be more stylish, get some of the Isotoner stretch gloves. I'm guessing they are made of spandex and washable too.

(You might want to stay away from the hand purifying gel, I understand it is really hard on your skin condition)

My hands are in the same condition as yours from excessive washing.

Use hand cream or Vaseline at night. Apply a good amount and rub to start the conditioning. Then put old cotton socks or gloves on your hands to help keep the hand cream off the bed linens.

I also like Moisture Therapy by Avon. It absorbs quickly and doesn't have a sticky feeling and is good for daytime.

Good Luck to you.

That is a VERY typical sign of OCD. I think it would be in your best interest to seek some help from a local psychologist and/or a psychiatrist.

Zimm's crack creme works great on dry cracked hands! They have it at most drug stores.
