My adopted son who is 11, has a skin issue. Where we live its very cold and packed with snow. Ever since Winter came around my son has skin that feels very rough and dry, feels like it has no moisture in it. He is up all night because he is so itchy.

I have gave him a bath every day but that has done nothing. His whole body is dry and rough like this, his arms, legs, thigs, back, just about everywhere.

Its not a different colour skin or anything. I am only 27 year old mother and I have no idea what I have to do with this, please give me some info.

well, tell him to drink a lot of water. even if you may think it doesn't work, it does. and get lotions that has natural ingredients in it like aveeno and stuff like that. it doesn't have a fragrance and it works really well. also make him wear layers with the rooms in the house really warm.

I would think that giving him a bath every day would dry out his skin worse. I would cut the baths down if possible. Also, make sure you are not bathing him in hot water which sucks the moisture out of his skin.

Make sure you are putting a really good lotion on him head-to-toe after baths and before bedtime. Also, make sure he is getting plenty of water.

I would take him to see a doctor if it doesn't improve. It could be an underlying condition... the doctor may be able to give you a prescription strength cream to rub on him.

The best thing to do is put lotion on when right after the bath. Dab the water off, but don't rub it off. While the skin is still damp, put the lotion on. I have found that it works wonders. My skin was really dry this year compared to years past and I started doing that. It makes a big difference.

Use lotion first of all, and use water not as hot. Hot water can dry out skin even more. Use gentle scrubs to exfoliate dead skin then a heavy moisturizing cream to kae it better. If the problem continues, take him to a dr.
