Well, what IS a free-thinking individual? To me it looks like the term has been co-opted for some Politically Correct ideas. Not very free, in my opinion. Thinking for myself, that's what makes my thinking free. And it goes wherever I want it to, even in Politically Incorrect directions.

Some "free-thinkers" seem to have to be ugly and defamatory toward people who disagree with them. You know what I tell people? The opposite of love isn't hate. It's indifference. If you are truly free of whatever it is you abhor, you DON'T CARE what other people think. It doesn't affect you.

yes. I don't judge based on my own preconcieved notions-I make every attempt to find out as much as I can about a subject before I actually speak on it and if I do find I'm speaking based on unture ideas, I change 'em. I listen to all views, and respect all people, even if they don't give it back.

Not really...I think freedom is a bit of an illusion, I think it is arrogant to think that your thinking is more "free" relative to anyone else's, and I think that such a conceit is just another in which you limit your own thought processes....

sometimes, but I feel we take the "easy way out" most of the time. we follow scripts and personal schemata which allow us to think only in certain ways. we are all guilty of it. we only think as freely as our minds allow
