stay away from them as much as you can.

but if they are no way that you can stay away from them or they are looking for you all the time then you might as well join them for your life and the ones you care about sake. because either way you will end up DEAD. by the hand of a gang member.

You say gang members not gang member, does that means fighting multiple opponents at once?
I don't guarantee my advices will work, it will just increase your chances of surviving (not winning). I recommend you to stay away from the gang members, usually they fight unfairly and dirty, example you are on your own fighting 4 gang members, each of them had a knife, occasionally, one will throw stones at you.On that circumstances, your chances are virtually zero, even though you have practiced martial arts for years. In my opinion, many gang members can't fight, they look tough because they attack in groups.To become a good fighter, you must be very fit and gang members aren't fit because of it's lifestyle. A gang member's lifestyle is not a healthy one, I'm pretty sure they do more smoking than exercising, they sleep very late and perhaps don't sleep at all, they use drugs. I'm pretty sure your favourite UFC fighter has a totally different lifestyle than a gang member although both look intimidating. So if you're fighting one on one and you are a martial artist, you will dominate the fight, but the truth is, gang members are too coward to fight alone or unarmed, they fight in groups and sometimes uses firearms, they only attack someone they think is weak. Anyways, the best way is to avoid the fight.
To increase your chances in your fight you could bring a weapon such as pepper spray and taser, i don't recommend you to bring a gun because if you kill the gang member, you're in trouble.
Another advice, attack the vital points of the body, such as eyes, solar plexus, groin, and many other, you can research this on the internet if you don't mind.
Learning a martial art does help, but don't expect instantaneous results, you won't be able to TKO a gang member with the roundhouse kick you've practiced the first time.

The best defence against a gang is to not piss them off. Hell don't go near them. If you fight one person and you win, you did well. If you fight a group and you win, you're lucky. If you fight a whole gang, then you wont win.
If there is a gang after you and they're serious about hurting you, killing you even, then you need to not be where that gang is. No amount of martial arts will help you here. You need to be smart. Take a modern approach to defence.

Firearm skill
Police
Moving far far away from that gang's turf
Not doing whatever you did again.

There are no tips for fighting gang members. If they want to kill you, you are dead unless you have a gun. If they want to rob you, you are gonna be robbed, and maybe killed, unless you have a gun. Just stay away from gangs. Dont try and fight them. Even if you take out a couple, the rest of the gang will have a bounty on you. And once they have a bounty on your head, you are pretty much dead. You cant run and hide because they will find you and kill you. Just stay away.

The best tip for this is to stay away from them as best as possible.
If you just happen to be there at the wrong time and get into a fight take out the leader of the group. If you take out the leader then theres no one to lead the gang. Its like a morale thing, if you see the boss fall then how the heck are we supposed to win, you know.
Take out the head honcho and run. Thats a proven fact.

You cannot use wit against these people. You cannot do the whole "you're the bad guys", "I'm the good guy" mentality on them.
If they confront you, you are in trouble. The best thing is to just be as far as them as possible. Out of sight, out of mind. Seriously. You will die at the hands of these savages.
If you are not willing to kill to survive, stay the kcuf away!!! You literally have to become like them, to survive around them.
I am not talking about wannabes. They are just punks with nothing else to do.
Real gangs kill innocent people.
They kill you because you rightfully defended yourself and won... your win will be short lived.
Stay away... PERIOD! They have guns and razors and they have no heart.

Take up a Martial Art ... I strongly recommend either Aikido or Kung Fu ... These two are the best Martial Arts against Street Gang or against mutiple of opponents ... Hope you take up one of the two Martial Arts that i have recommended ... Good Luck!

you're screwed. kick the crap out of 1, another 10 will show up, probably with weapons.
through a miracle you manage to kick the crap out of all of them, find a new city to live in. they'll come after you and probably anyone connected to you with everything they've got like the savages they are. if you're cornered, take as many down, permanently, as you can before the big sleep.
