Is it possible to buy a empty warehouse, with a large amount of open square footage, in or around the Los Angeles area for cheap?
One that hasn't been already professionally redesigned (which would increase the $). What additional costs would be of concern, (heating, etc.)?

Perhaps I should be more specific. It would be to live, not to flip for a profit. There are also many locations (empty factories) in East LA, and areas surrounding downtown that are scary/run-down=less expensive. I did have a friend who was living in a huge warehouse in Riverside, Ca. Living illegally because it was meant & leased for work, not residing. The question comes after seeing the movie Zoolander, where one of the characters lives and fixes up a run down warehouse. I'm guessing the biggest problem would be re-zoning one for residential living (for one person).

Here is a link to Los Angeles Commercial Real Estate properties:

http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=los+angeles+commercial+real+estate&fr=yfp-t-501&toggle=1&cop=mss&ei=UTF-8

If the link doesn't work just type "Los Angeles Commercial Real Estate" in the Google or Yahoo search engine.

I'm sure there are many if you are willing to work with a commercial real estate agent. They would know the area and the properties available within your budgetary and design guidelines.

LA is out of the question, you have to be the initiator of a trend to make money on it, not a johnny come lately

It would be soooo expensive! Unless you have millions of dollars or corporate backing, I'd look elsewhere...
