My mother and father in law have read the Bible daily for 50 years. In those 50 years, they have read the entire Bible 50 times. They have read the King James, American Standard as well as the New World Translation. I'm sure they know more about the Bible than most people. If you would like a schedule so that you can do the same, it is pretty easy. Just read 4 chapters a day. January 1st is a great day to start.

Oh, and my Bible study is done daily. I prefer morning, when my mind is fresh and I am wide awake. It will often take at least an hour of my time to read and meditate on what I am reading from the Bible. This is separate from my study of the WT publications.

Your assumptions are incorrect. Most people are amazed at how many scriptures are shared at our Christian meetings, and visitors are often amazed at our children who can find even the smallest books in the Bible. How else could they do this if they were not taught using the Bible. Also, you obviously have never attended a Theocratic Ministry School, because at the TMS there is a thorough discussion of several chapters of the Bible. This week was Zechariah 1-8.

Jw Study Aids

2017-01-17 09:04:16 · answer #3 · answered by sangster 4 · 0 0

This questioner's suggestion is laughable.

Each week the entire congregation is assigned between four and six chapters of the bible to read and research on their own (completing the bible in about two years before repeating). Each week, congregants are invited to share whatever points they learned with the rest of the audience. If an ostensible "Witness" pretends that he is unfamiliar with this assignment, then he is not familiar with the meetings of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Even during talks at the meetings of Jehovah's Witnesses, more than 90% of the audience never put down their bibles because it is rare for 90 seconds to pass without a verse cited and read. During audience participation parts, the commenters (audience members) are encouraged to cite and read whatever Scripture the commenter feels is appropriate to the discussion.

But perhaps most laughable is the suggestion that the congregation "book study" does not involve the bible itself. Jehovah's Witness book study meetings are currently considering "Revelation - Its Grand Climax At Hand!", which is a verse by verse consideration of the entire book of Revelation. Before this book, Jehovah's Witness book study meetings considered a publication with a verse by verse consideration of the entire book of Daniel, and before that a publication with a verse by verse consideration of the entire book of Isaiah.

When anti-Witness critics invent criticism, they should perhaps make some attempt at truthfulness.

Don't the lies get ever worse with each passing day.

Everyone who is HONEST here knows that JWs KNOW their Bibles. Many refer to verses but can't cite them, JWs can say them in their sleep! How are we (even the younger ones among us) able to be so capable of handling the Bible if we didn't read it?

The Book Study is a meeting where a publication is considered. Like right now (after I finish answering this question) I am going for my Book Study. We are studying the book "Pay Attention to Daniel's Prophecy!" which is a verse-by-verse consideration of Daniel.

Each of us is required to read the chapter in the book beforehand. In each chapter of the book, it shows which chapter (or verses) in the book of DANIEL will be discussed in the chapter. Hence, we are encouraged to read that Bible chapter BEFORE reading the book so as to get the gist of the discussion.

Today we are considering Daniel 11:17-19, which is considered in chapter thirteen of the study aid.

Just goes to show that you do not "know ABOUT" the Book Study, at the most you "know OF" it. Or else you'd have known all this already.

For the most part, JW's study the articles in the Watchtower and Awake, books written by the Watchtower Society and what ever the elders at the Watchtower Society deems worthy of studying.
I, in my years of being a JW, don't remember actually studying the Bible, just picking and choosing which verses to quote.

Glad to be out.

All the time Wanderer...all the time..Whats your real Question?

Mark below is so wrong. We encouraged to Test the scriptures to make " sure" of what we read is the Truth. The apostle John urged: “Beloved ones, do not believe every inspired expression, but test the inspired expressions to see whether they originate with God.” (1 John 4:1)
Witnesses are Not Gullible.

The Gullible ones are those who follow the Crowds into celebrating Christmas and all the Other Pagan Holidays.. It is always Better to put one's own house in Order first before pointing a Finger.

Mark, post your Question..You will get your answer.!

Jehovah's Witnesses are encouraged to study the Bible daily. They do that with a sincere and humble heart.

Jehovah's Witnesses have five meetings per week (Theocratic Ministry School, Service Meeting, Public Meeting, Watchtower Study, Congregation Book Study). At EVERY meeting they USE the Bible. ALL their literature is BASED on what the Bible REALLY teaches.

"All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work." -- 2 Timothy 3:16,17

Wow, you made me laugh so hard I almost fell off my chair...

The bible is what we study... all the rest are study aids... All of them are backed up all the way through by the bible...

We do personal bible studies and research at our own convenience... (you know regular daily bible readings)

Topic specific bible research for self improvement... (actually reading specific scriptures and meditating on them)

Yes, bibles are what we study, and yes we also have study aids... Everything published must be use with a bible... (to look up the cited Scriptures)

Where ever you got your info... it is very unreliable.

Journey Well...

yes, hi, it's me to put my 2 cents in. its true witnesses study only the scriptures that they can refer to "wordly" people to back up the religion. you wont see a witness going out of thier way to memorize verses that promote the worship of jesus * and oh yes! they're in thier guys* why, pick and choose? not cool.
