Actually yes! I used to be a stagehand and was working a religious event where someone in the audience would stand and begin speaking in tongues. Then another from the audience would rise and interpret. It was invariably a message from "God" that "God" needed more money. Then they would pass the collection plates. This happened repeatedly. Talk about obvious!

Yeah yesterday when someone called it monkey talk. But those who don't understand the truth are afraid of what it means. Thank God I was raised in a family and church who knew the importance of speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance.

No I've never gotten mad with people for making fun of speaking in tongues cuz I make fun of them once in a while and I still think some of those who speak in tongues are fakes. I don't think that its the Holy Spirit that causes people to start speaking in tongues in the midst of a bible study or a church sermon while the pastor is speaking to the congregation. Its either the person is a faker or its something else besides the Holy Spirit that has possessed him/her.

Just how is it that you know and understand, that what the gibberish coming out, actually means something? If you have an interpreter, how do you know he, understands?
The whole thing sounds phony to me. I am not from Missouri, but show me, and make me understand how the whole ''speaking in tongues' thing ,works

No, because I don't have experience with people making fun of me speaking in tongues. My church believes in praying in tongues, for my senior pastor teaches about praying in tongues in its biblical context, so we would take care to do so in an orderly fashion, "for God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints". (1 Corinthians 14:33)
As for those who make fun or who do not believe in speaking in tongues, we can do what Jesus says - to bless them and pray for them.
God bless you. :)

Its not a laughing matter. People who speak in tongues make it difficult for real Christians to spread the gospel.

No it is something that I never comment on if someone did that. But there is a spirit of discernment that one has that can tell if it genuine or not. Any move of the Holy Spirit is nothing one should ever mock.

It's a ridiculous phony practice to say the least. Do you also handle snakes and drink poison? If you don't you're cherry picking the bible to suit your own purposes.

No, I'm usually the one making fun of speakers of tongues. It looks stupid, and is obviously self-induced hysteria.
