WTF? how do you use gift cards?

when people get you a girft
card how exactly do they get it for you?
do they pay the amount of money
there is in the card?
i know this is stupid but im just asking :)
NOT how do you use it.
HOW DO YOU GET A PERSON A GIFT CARD

Go to the store of your choice. Go up to the register - say I would like to purchase a gift card for $20.00 (or what ever amount you chose). Pay them the 20 and they activate the card.

Visa Gift Card - go to your bank. Go to the teller - say I would like to purchase a Visa Gift card for $20.00. They will debit your account the 20.00 + the fee for the gift card (my bank charges 3.95 for the card).

You can use gift cards for just about anything.

There are American Express Gift Cards for example so say you want a $100.00 Dollar Gift Card you pay the $100.00 Dollars plus a fee of like $3.95 so Total would be like $103.95 for the American Express Gift Card. But you can't purchase Gas with it whatever the terms and conditions are for it. I think you can purchase them at Walgreen's, and Albertson's.

Target has Gift Cards you can purchase but you just use those kind of Gift Cards at Target or Target.com only. You might have to purchase something first in order to get a Gift Card Promotion.

Just walk into Walgreen's, Albertson's, Target and purchase them.

Pay the amount that the gift card is worth. Or if the card has a no preset amount pay the amount you want on the giftcard and they will make it so that price is programmed into the card
