I was in the dep program and I try to get out of the army, but my recruiter told me I had to go back to meps and signs my final contract to ship out for basic training. He told me the only way out was to signed my final contract but do not get on the plane. and since I have no units and still attach to meps I wouldn't get into trouble, and I can go back and join anytime I want. I did what he said because he told me that was the only option. Well when I try to go back into the army with a different recruiting office he told me that I was awol. I discover the GI rights hotline and call them for assistents. Now I have to buy my own tickets and head out for Fort Sill to get out-process(I hope). My question is, is there anything I can do to get a entry level separation due to the cause of my Awol. And if anyone can provide me with some guidance.

Please keep in mind that my recruiter assignment was switch to Germany a fews after I sign my final contract. And I wouldn't have done what he said if I knew I didn't have no real commitment to the army while in dep. I was fresh out of high school, 18, and too naive. My ship-out date was on January 4, 2007

I did go to meps the second time, and signed my final contract swore in. I just did not get on the plane to head out for basic training.

You disgust me. Singing up for the Army is not to be taken lightly. Some where in Iraq there is one less Soldier in a unit because you wormed out of the commitment you made. There was a unit you would have been assigned to and now because your not fulfilling you commitment. There going to have to wait additional months to get a replacement Soldier. You know what we say in the Army, if you can't make it in the Army you can"t make it anywhere.

Suck it up, get out to Ft. Sill, suggest that you go through Basic Training. Unless, of course, you want that AWOL to follow you everywhere you go. Like whenever you try to get a job. Or a loan. Buy a car, buy a house, get stopped by a cop for a broken tail light.....
Sorry, hon, but you were old enough to make the decision. Saying "I'm sorry, I screwed up" doesn't fix all problems. For example, you have a couple of drinks at a bar and decide that just this once, you'll drive home. Well, on the way home you took out two high-schoolers on their way to prom. You can say "Whoops, yeah, sorry, I screwed up" but they're just as dead.
You still have time to do the honorable thing, kid, really. This is not yet a problem that can't be fixed. You're 18, so grow a pair and do what you swore to do. I know as a fact that you raise your right hand well before you get on the plane.
So, here's the question: Did you give your word that you would serve honorably in the United States Armed Forces? Follow a tradition that is older than this country? Follow in the footsteps of the American Heroes?
And second question: Is your word worth anything? IMHO, when I die, I have nothing but my reputation. I die alone, no matter how many friends and family might be gathered around me. But when I do, if St. Peter asks me my creds, I can tell him. And if he asks me why he should believe me, I can tell him "You have my word. And that has NEVER been broken."
From now on, be very wary before you give your word on anything.

Dude your fine. If you were really in the hot seat the second recruiter you went to go see would not have let you walk out of the office and if so he would have called someone in the chain to let them know where you were at and you would have been taken care of one way or another. However since you didn't go to basic training and finish any requirements whatsoever you can't be considered what ever the army is calling themselves nowadays and likely and at most they will process you for discharge AT THE MOST, and that is only if you have sworn in. This however doesn't inhibit your ability to join if you still want to. Remember the Army will take anyone.

That's why you read what you sign. Had you done that, you would have known that the only way for you to be indoctrinated into the Army was to sign that paper. At this point, I would imagine it's been more than 30 days, and you're a deserter. Not much you can do, except turn yourself in.

You recruiter is blowing a BUNCH of smoke up your a$$! You are not IN the military until the 2nd time you go to the MEPS and get sworn in (the day you are leaving for basic training)... if you are not in the military you can not be AWOL... Even if you went the first time and got "sworn in" and did the drug test and duck walk in your undies, you are still not technically in... he is full of it and sounds like he is trying to trick you into it. Recruiters will tell you anything to get you in. It doesnt matter to them, they have a quota.

So basically you signed your final contract and bailed out on going to boot camp? How can you proccess out if you never went to boot camp or anything?
You signed a contract...so I'd hire a lawyer...make him aware of the situation and then turn yourself in....or talk to another recruiter about the situation and see what is going to happen.
Your question is kind of confusing..sorry I can't be of more help.
