I couldn't give you an exact percentage but frankly I think not many are that good.
Some are just horrible because all they are doing is trying to make the other side angry or upset by attacking some element that is important to them i.e. Jesus for Christians or Muhammad for Muslims or science for Atheists.
Then there are those that are okay...they arent really attacking anyone but they also arent really seeking an answer. They ask a question but they are so biased towards their own views that they will only support those who in align with their views. I dont see those as good questions.
Good questions especially in R & S for me are the ones that truly wish to inquire. They are the ones where a Christian asks a question and can offer respect to the views of the atheist and vise versa.

Frankly, Ive probably engaged in all three of these...not so much the first one but usually the second but mostly the third. I try to use the space to ask real questions seeking real answers.

The really honest and serious are the good ones and they are highly limited.

Hope this helps.
Oh and unlike a couple of others I do think this was a good question. Its interesting and a different question and thats why I explained myself in great length. Your question allowed me to sum up how I see most of the questions on R &S...thanks for the forum to make that observation.

Beekay,

I would go higher than the average percentage given here in most of the answers.
Say perhaps 25% to 1/3.
I think that many of the questions that folks dont think are good ones, are in fact serious questions to the person asking. Because they actually have an honest desire to know.

With that being said, one of the things that I wish folks would do BEFORE asking their question, is to do a search and pull up some of the answers already given.

Most questions (serious ones) have been asked here many, many times before. And have been addressed many, many times before.

I know that I have answered some questions many times over. (I probably should just start cutting and pasting the most common ones. Saves a lot of work. lol.)

I myself ask very few questions anymore, because I know if I do a search, I will find the question several times, with a plethora of excellent answers. (along with the "nut job" answers also. lol)
It is a rare question that has never been asked.

I guess it depends on your definition of good. I would say I find about 5% worth reading.
