This question brings back memories from a few years ago :)
Back when I was a sophomore in high school, I was very much a dork (not smart enough to be a nerd, so I was just a dork). I was very shy and I got embarrassed easily. Anyways, there was this girl in my science class who was really pretty, and really funny. A smile that just lit up a room. She was also very social and popular. Everyone seemed to enjoy her company. I thought that she would never give me the time of day.
One random day, though, she came up to me in class and asked for a hug. Being the shy and bashful dork that I was, I was hesitant to hug her back. Well, she didn't take no for an answer. She came up to me and gave me the biggest hug I've had in my life, and from that moment on, she always made it a point to talk to me in class. How it happened, and why it happened, I'll never know. She was so far above me on the social ladder. I was a nobody. She was known by everyone.
But I guess she found my bashfulness funny, because she was always flirting with me, giving me hugs, smiling at me, winking at me across the room. One day she grabbed my hand in the hallway and held it as we were walking, as if we were together or something. I knew all along that she was just joking, but it still made me so nervous. But I loved those days. I'll never forget her. I knew she didn't really like me, but the fact that she paid that much attention to me made me feel good about myself.
If you're a cute, popular girl, and you want to start flirting with a shy, dorky guy, trust me: he'll never forget you. Even if you are just doing it as a joke, he'll feel better about himself if a pretty young lady pays attention to him. :)

Yes, most nerdy guys would hate that kind of attention. He would know that the girl did not mean it and was only saying that stuff to make fun of him.
No nerd 'knows' a gil likes him....it just does not happen.
Most nerds would be quite mean to any cute girl...
