I have been interested in the P7 pistol from H&K for years. All sources I have read say that H&K stopped production decades ago though. Is anyone else making them? Does there patent still prevent other from manufacturing it? How much is a decent one used? How cheap can you find them? How much is too much to pay? Just general information on modern production runs and prices is what I am after. Thanks.

They are not being produced, though H&K still holds all patent rights, and you can find them on the used market.

I've got 2 of them gathering a little dust in my collection- one I bought new, the other was a used one purchased from the returned inventory of the NJ State Police- seems those goof-balls were limp-wristing thier shots and "jamming" them. Funny, I've never had a single failure in either, nor have the many thousands of German police who love them to this day.

Anyway, I love mine for what they are, though they aren't my favorite H&K's, they are revolutionary in their design and have a permanent place in the history of firearms design. You can often find good quality used ones for reasonable prices (in the $500's) though they will often fetch $600 or more if they are in excellent condition.

YES.

UPDATE: I just picked up my mail this morning and the brand new CDNN catalog was there. They still have two grades of HK P7PSP's in stock from $599-$674 VG-Excellent... for $674 I would probably go with a USP Tactical in .40 S&W or a USP Custom Combat in .45 ACP instead (both on sale in the latest catalog), but the P7 is more unique for sure. Good luck.

I have not seen any around in quantity forever, but a few months ago some surfaced at CDNN. Hit the site and download the catalog in PDF format. They don't list too many firearms on the site, but the catalog has many great deals. I think the P7's they had were about $600. If they are not listed in the current catalog they probably sold out, but usually CDNN acquires huge lots of their guns and lists them for months and months. I would recommend calling them as well. That's a nice pistol.

They are all discontinued but not decades ago as you have been told. There is no current production of any of these variations at present. You can find used ones without much difficulty though. Prices and values depend on what specific models you wish to know about. Heckler & Koch still holds the patents on the entire P7 line and ALL variations.

Cabela's has a good supply of P7 pistols that are police trade in guns. They come in the original box with 2 magazines and are about $700.
