how bad would it suck to be an atheist your whole life only to find out when you die that god exists and tried repeadidly to draw you away from hell, but your determination to to be closed hearted has led to your own ETERNAL damnation. Huh, how bad would that suck?

Probably about the same as spending your whole life feeling shameful and then you die and

That would suck.
Compare please with the consequence of living a bible christian life, bible christians do not feel shameful as some people think, mostly it is the corrupted christians who feel shame in order for them to be controlled by the church, so if you live a happy good life for christ, and then JUST DIE, because there is no God, then at least you lived a good life, if you do that and find out you were right, and there is a God, WOW lucky you.

If you live your life condemning God or saying he isn't real, even if you live a reletively good life you never took christ as your savior, and the lord says the only way to the father is by me, NOT WORKS, so poor you, you go to hell or just die, there are a few sets of beliefs on that, but no matter what, if the Bible is true, you don't get into heaven, which would stink.
If you are right, you just die, whoopie...

So thats the chances...
Better safe than sorry.

I t would suck pretty bad, but not nearly as bad if I had chose to believe just because I was afraid. I would think God would see through that dog and pony show. So I am left with two choices, one not believe as my brain and heart tell me, or two lie and say I believe. Obviously I will take the truth choice and my chances with God, after all I am supposed to do something with this brain thing.

As a christian myself this is the route i need to take to get to where i wanna be, i believe I've become a better person in doing so. But i must say that your question isn't going to bring anyone aboard. I think that it's pushing people away that may have been on the fence about christianity.

Christianity is supposed to be about love and acceptance but like so many you are showing the ugly and almost bitter aspect.

Now that is ironic. The ironic part is that atheists have been telling Christians they cannot prove God's existence all along. Now we learn that when we find out He exists we're going to hell.

whats up with the pascal remarks, don't mind these atheists on here , they must not have been able to answer pascals answer either , that must be why they use his name ever time they cant answer one, you are on the right path , keep the questions comeing,
oh yeah athiests, it wont matter if you believe or not , it wont change where you will be, putting your head in the sand will only make it worse, when you get to hell you will have something i will not have and that is your memory, you will remember ever time you had a chance to believe , and ever time you answered a question like you do with harsh remarks. but dont think the christian will be thinking about you then , we wont even remember you. better think about what you are saying and believing

I think if they truly didn't know Christ that when they stood before him the Lord would give them a chance to except him. For every Knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess, Jesus is the Lord. I look at Saul how he persecuted the Saints and the Lord changed his Life.

About as bad as it would be to spend your life believing in the God of the Bible, and then have it turn out that Zeus is actually the real god and he's really ticked off that you didn't believe in HIM, and sends you to Hades.

Pascal's Wager! * drink * (a bit early for me, though)

I suppose you include "non-believers" in that one too since we don't believe in your hell, Christ or god.

What if you're wrong and you picked the wrong religion? Think Odin or Zeus would welcome you into the Halls or the Fields? It would suck to be in that position.

btw: why does this one ALWAYS include threats of eternal damnation?

So I should believe to avoid bad things? Hey, I don't believe. You want I should PRETEND to believe?

For that matter, look at your life. You restrict your natural urges. You sacrifice psychological needs. Then you die. No god. Your life a waste. Or you die and the Mormons are the only ones in heaven. Same thing. Hey, believing as insurance seems stupid to me.

Probably not as bad as spending your whole life believing in some superstitious nonsense, quivering in fear of an invisible bogeyman in the sky, giving up harmless vices for no reason, and then realizing on your deathbed you've been duped.

Certainly not as bad as wasting your life quivering in fear of an invisible bogeyman in the sky, giving up harmless vices for no reason--and then burning in Hell anyways because you have a sick, anti-christian desire to damn others. Jesus said, 'Judge not lest thou be judged, for the judgment ye give ye shallt receive'--so it means you're probably going to burn yourself if your superstition ever turns out to be true...
