If, so I have two verses I would like to know what you think about:

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” Genesis 1:26

Who knows the spirit of the sons of men, which goes upward, and the spirit of the animal, which goes down to the earth? Ecclesiastes 3:21

If we evolved from animals, then why are given dominion over them?

If the spirits of animals and men go to different places, then did our spirits also evolve?

If you believe we came from animals (which means their was death before sin), then why do you need Jesus?

This question demands a longer reply than I have time for at the moment but I will indicate what I believe. Please forgive the masculine pronouns. God has no gender and is not part of the created order
The bible is basically a love story. It is the love story of God for his creation and there is a secondary theme as to how mankind learn more and more about him and his world..

This story starts with a prologue - to set the scene. The prologues is in the form of a story that is not to be taken literally. The theme of the story is that God willed the creation and that it is good, He gave men and women free will so that they could freely respond to him. Because he loved them there was to be no coercion. But men and women do not obey God. They separate themselves from God and suffering and pain results.

This is the prologue. The rest of the bible is the main story and it has not finished completely yet. It will not do so until we have built the new Jerusalem.

With regard to the first text mentioned I don't think that you would deny that man has dominion over the world nor, I hope would you deny that this is the creation of God.

I can't see that anything I has said contradicts the text form Ecclesiastes. Mankind is a spiritual being and is aware of the transcendental. This spirituality is. I believe, unique to mankind.

Mankind is also a physical being. I am told and I have no reason to dispute it that my very being is determined by DNA. I am told that a very high proportion of my genes I share with other animals especially other primates.

The theory of evolution postulates a process of mutation and selection by which species change. Most, possible all, these mechanisms can be observed. Then there is ample fossil evidence going back millions of years which fit into the pattern.

I am sure it will be a long time before there is anything like a complete story and there is no theoretical reason why tomorrow a piece of evidence might not turn up to disprove it. But the theory is so far standing up to scrutiny.

If you think about your question about evolving form animals and being given dominion over them I think you will see that it is a little confused. Have you never heard of a person being promoted from one position until he has authority over his former colleagues?

The evolution of spirituality is more complex and I don't think anyone has the answer but there is no doubt the brain of a human has a very great capacity to, for instance, appreciate music. When I wrote my first computer program in 1961 we were dealing with very simple devices. Now they are much, much more complex. This is an analogy for the way the brain has evolved and with it has come functions which were impossible before, and spirituality is one of them. This makes mankind different - in a different state - going in a different direction.
I do not understand your comment about Jesus. As I said above the love of God means that he will never abandon his creation but mankind separates themselves from God and needs atonement. Tha tis why we need Jesus.
Perhaps I should make it clear that I think the theory of evolution is on the right lines with the physical processes. I do not follow it when people, most non scientists, turn it into a religion and talk about questions of meaning or that evolution must go ine certain directions - it is a amoral random physical process and nothing more.
Now I am going to bed.

a.) Who says we are given dominion over animals? Go to the plains of Africa and see what sort of dominion you have. We have opposable thumbs, that's all.
b.) Assuming spirits do go somewhere, what makes you think that animal and human spirits go to different places?
c.) The verse you cite has nothing to do with evolution - besides the fact that it was written before evolution was found to be a fact, thus explaining the "make man in our image" line.

You need to study your version of evolution again...in the enlightened 21st century...it's no longer believed that humans came from animals...only the truly ignorant believe that anymore...even though we are animals...that's beside the point...there are old theories being discarded every day...when weighing the idea of evolution vs the Bible...you need to ask yourself...is there a detailed description of God in there besides the burning bush and the blinding light from above???...no one living today resembles people from 500 years ago...let alone 100,000...

Evolution sounds similar to Galen's "the Earth is round" theory in which the church had him killed for.

I was born and raised in US Christian culture and although I am no longer interested in organized religion I am Christian.

I don't like the organized political brainwashing "beliefs" into people's minds. People need to be able to disagree and think, or it is brainwashing.

the overwhelming majority of Christians world-wide accept evolution without lessening their faith

it's just a very small, very specific, very American, but unfortunately very vocal minority that has a problem with it
