Yes. Catholics do not believe confession is necessary for salvation. The only time confession is needed is if you commit a mortal sin after you have already received salvation through baptism, because then you are forfeiting your salvation. Going to confession enables you to receive forgiveness and absolution and restores you to the state of grace.

Outside the confessional? I think you have a misunderstanding there. The purpose of the confessional is to be a place where the sacrament of reconciliation is administered. It is for the baptized faithful. Baptism is how we enter into salvation process.

You do not know what you are talking about. Of course, there is salvation outside of the confessional. Catholics can confess directly to God. We go to confession to receive the graces which the sacrament gives us.
Please don't make conclusions about the Catholic faith without checking what we believe in first.
