Plenty of people, judging by the criticisms I receive in emails and on this forum. But I still don't get why, and I hardly ever get an answer to that when I ask.
Does the existence of polyamoury bother you? Nudists? Sex workers? Hare Krishnas? New Age religions? Just plain old hippies?
And most importantly, WHY? Is it because you worry your children will be lead astray? That the Judeo-Christian God will smite the entire nation? Do you fear you will be pressured to join? Or that your values will die out as time goes on? Some other reason?

Please note: I am not saying that I am all of these things. I am some of them. I am not both a Hare Krishna and a sex worker, LOL. I'm just trying to give examples of different alternative lifestyles.

This is not directed at just "Christian and Jews." Many Judeo-Christian values and ideas are inherent in Western society these days, even among those who do not exactly subscribe to these religions and this term is frequently used to refer to that.

Aggelius- how on Earth do you compare people making private lifestyle decisions to the holocaust?

Not me. I could care less what other people do as long as they don't demand everyone conforms to their beliefs.
Note: Jews reeeeally don't like the word "Judeo-Xian."

Well...mostly the effect has been what I'd call disrespect...my nieces and nephews don't ever call or contact me...when I do see them they're aloof. They say I should be calling them...should I? My answer to that is I grew up in a different era where RESPECT was a key word...there's a sore lack of it in today's world. Other than that who cares what anyone does...It hurts to be disrespected, but I can live without them in my life...If that's the only pain I suffer as a result of "alternative lifestyles" I can live with it...they're all from broken homes. PEACE!

You have to be a little more specific. When Michael Johnson was in Dallas talking about setting up businesses in the black community, one of the things he said was about starting a movie theater where blacks could talk loudly to each other and the screen. That is their lifestyle, according to him, and I wouldn't want to go to a theater where that happened. But I don't care how they wear their hair or dress. So it's a matter of whether their lifestyle, or any other group's lifestyle, clashes with mine whether I feel negatively affected.

I really have no reason to care about what alternative lifestyle people choose to lead. If you want to be a porn star or a hippie, I hope it makes you happy. Just let me live my life as I see fit, and I will extend you the same courtesy.

It is evident that you are pointing this question at Christians and Jews, since you said,"The the Judeo-Christian God will smite----" Are you threatened by us, the Christians and the Jews? Otherwise, why would you only be asking this question of us? Does the existence of Christians and Jews bother you? Why aren't you asking this question to everyone else? It's obvious you accept them for who they are, why not us? Think about your question a little before you ask it.

It bothers me for a number of reasons. First, because it's bad for those doing it, and I am concerned for their souls. Second, because it goes against human nature and ultimately leads to unhappiness and confusion. Third, because sin affects the whole society: think about Nazi Germany. What if you did not agree with the Nazi philosophy. You could try to ignore it. But do you think it would not affect your life and happiness? Of course it did. I'm sure it affected the life of every German.
The same with a society saturated with "alternative lifestyles": It affects the quality of life of everyone. Those involved in them may think it's just great, but those who consider them a bad thing will find it more disturbing the more widespread it becomes.

I don't feel personally touched by alternative lifestyles, but then, my son is only 4. When he gets older, I'm sure that I will not enjoy having to explain the problems with some of those you mention, but I'm sure I'll have to since it is everywhere these days, just as I'm sure you have to explain us Christians to your children (assuming you have them). I think there is a big difference between loving Christ and selling your body on the street though.

Mostly because when I voice my opposition to these alternative lifestyles, I get silenced and called an intolerant Fundy bigot.

I have no problem with people being different from me. Who am I to judge someone for walking a different path. It's not my business, and I'm not going to criticize them, especially since I'm not opposed to people being nudists or Krishnas or hippies...
