Eating at night has nothing to do with weight gain but having a nice healthy breakfast will help you lose weight.
The best way to stay off the junk food isn't to restrict yourself to just healthy food, you can eat a cookie, just don't eat a whole bag of them. When you set rules like NO ICE CREAM then you're going to want it more. Think moderation.
To help you eat healthy foods over junk food, just choose yummy healthy foods instead of stuff you don't want to eat because if you force yourself to eat foods you don't like then you're just going to have bad feelings towards dieting.

It's very bad, in fact it's part of the reason you're gaining weight.
First of all, you shouldn't be eating too much at night. In fact I always say if you want to lose weight you shouldn't eat more than 3 hours before going to sleep.
Also, get rid of the junk food. Throw it all out and when you're in the supermarket don't buy any. You need to start eating better and that means eating the proper foods and making sure you're eating enough.
Eat 5-6 small meals a day. Take your total calories you need, take away 500 and that's what you eat for the day. For example, I'm 39 years old, 183 cm and weigh 90 kilos. My BMR is 1663. My activity level is 4 (on a scale of 1-5) which would mean my total calories needed for the day are 2955. This is what I need to maintain my weight at a constant 90 kilos. If I wanted to lose the weight, I'd start by cutting out 500 calories from my diet for a total of 2455 or maybe 2400 just to make it even.
If I have 5 small meals a day, this means that I shouldn't have more or much less than 480 calories per meal.
A meal can consist of anything good for you. I would suggest things like fruits, veggies, lean meats and whole grains. For a snack (which counts as a meal) have some peanuts, or some veggies, or whatever fruit is in season. Whatever it is that you like that is also good for you works.
Then you need to get your butt off the couch and start working out. Get your heartrate up there for an extended period of time. Eventually, you will start to lose that weight and feel better about yourself.

with an attitude like yours, there really is no way you will lose weight. You need to make a life style change, not just pick a diet. That takes discipline, something a great many americans seem to lack.
Yes, eating at night rather than in the morning will effect weight gain, at night the body stores food as fat. Eat your largest meal at breakfast and your smallest meal at supper, and don't eat after six PM.

what exactly is your goals and plan to reach them. do you have one? set some goals for yourself. set daily goals, weekly goals, weekly and long term goals that you can reach. for daily goals, have them be something simple. such as good meal planning, going to the gym, passing up on junk foods, etc. weekly goals should be a weight loss of 1 pound, going to the gym 3-4 days a week, etc. monthly goals should be a little more difficult to achieve but not impossible. make a list of things u wish to accomplish, then figure out a plan on how to do it.. work out time management so u can go to the gym, meal plans so you have the foods available to prepare and cook for yourself. its like everything else in life, if you have a goal and a plan to reach it, you will probably be successful. if you just try to make it happen with no prethought or plan, you are destined for failure. if you really dont know where to begin, feel free to email me and we can try to make something that works for you.. good luck and stay committed to yourself. remember, nobody else is gonna do it for you.
