I ordered wedding invitations online and was really impressed! I found a site called www.rosettapapers.com. If you click here you can link directly to their wedding invitation page http://www.rosettapapers.com/category.aspx?categoryId=15 Just make sure that you always order a proof, so you know it is going to look exactly as you want.
Advantage: you can order from your house at any time of day! i was working full time and trying to plan my wedding. it made it SO much easier when i could do my searching and purchasing at night without driving all over the city!

For my daughter's recent wedding, we ordered them at the local stationery store. We actually got them cheaper there than anywhere online, and got good advice from the customer service representative there. Since she placed these orders often, she had a great sense of what would work best, and what wouldn't work at all.

my wedding was in september this yr and my husband and i did our own wedding invitations because it was more personal and unique touch to it that someone else doing it won't have. Ordering online can also make mistakes such as not sending everything that's been ordered or delivered or sent on time.

the typical advantages of online purchasing (for anything) apply to wedding invitations, those include, comparison shopping, hundreds if not thousands of options, ability to personalize and visualize something before printing, etc...
however, you definitely want to touch and feel the weight of the paper, the actual look of the card, etc...those things you would have to go to different stationery stores...but that's the fun of the whole process! :) congrats!

I don't know what your budget is, how crafty you are, or how many guests you intend on inviting, but you can make the invitations yourself and save a ton of money, we made our own, and even though they had a bow, they still saved us about 300 bucks, which is huge and we got to pick the colors. But if that isn't your thing, my married friends all used either the place where they bought thier dress or rented the tuxs, and they turned out really pretty! Congrats!

We got our invitations from Michaels, a craft store in the area. They can also be bought at Target, Office Depot, Staples, etc.
We spent maybe $50 total on cardstock, ribbon, a few little decorations.

I ordered my wedding invitations online, I have to say that i wasn't disappointed. Although I think the price was a little high, but while I was browsing I found these wedding invitations sent in a bottle. I don't really know if its clever or tacky. You'll have your invitations sent to you in a bottle. heres the link if you find that interesting
