The question is a non-sequitur. There is no requirement to be Jewish to be an Israeli citizen. The distinction is that Jews can claim citizenship automatically, others have to go through a more rigorous process. There are plenty of non-Jewish Israeli citizens.

Yes. The Law of Return states that any Jews has the inherent right to Israeli citizenship. All one needs is to be of the Jewish faith (as authorized by an accredited Rabbi) or of Jewish lineage (at least one grandparent). However, the supreme court does reserve the right to reject this for individuals for outstanding reasons, such as being a mobster.

Yes, all Jews can become Israeli citizens under the Law Of Return. The criteria used to define who is 'Jewish' is a topic of debate and interest. Israel originally used the same criteria that Hitler did, the logic being that if having a Jewish grandparent was enough to result in a person being gassed in a German concentration camp, than by the same token, it should be enough for someone to find sanctuary in Israel.
I understand that there is at present discussion in Israel over whether to alter this criteria.
It is worth noting at this point that ANYONE, whether Jewish or not, can apply to be an Israeli citizen. Around 30% of Israeli citizens are not Jewish.
EDIT TO LISA
Wouldn't you prefer to get your facts straight before posting? As I've said already, some 30% of Israelis are not Jewish. I myself have Christian, Catholic, Atheist and B'hai friends all living very happily in Israel, as full Israeli citizens!!!

To your first question: yes, under the Right of Return. Once there, however, some institutions such as marriage, etc., require you to have an Orthodox service.
To your second question: Yes, Israel is the Jewish homeland.

Yes of course, you are entitled to a Israeli citizenship no matter where you are from especially that you are Jewish.
Do you always swear when you can't support your arguments Ultra N?
Well it seems that some people start swearing instead of using civilized arguments to support their ideas. What is it you don't like the truth or what?
I'm only repeating what the Israeli government said. Why does it make you so angry?.
Ultra N. these are my sister's homework. Hahaaaa. You make me laugh even if they were mine, do you think I would care? nevertheless not all adults are good at mathematics,. Albert Einstein wasn't good at math or at least that is what his teacher thought. So I wouldn't be embarrassed if I did not know how to solve it.
Ultra N take an ultra deep breath I think you sort of overreacted.
I don't hate jews you got it all wrong but I do hate what your government is doing to the Palestinians. I know better then putting all people in one pot. In fact I know there are plenty of jews out there who also think what the Israeli government is doing is wrong.
. I really don't want to get further in this because it is getting really ugly.

Yes if you can prove your ancestry.
However, Arabs and Palestinians living in Israel are ALSO offered citizenship.
Israel is very democratic, and like our country gives citzenship to those BORN there, and those who apply and satisfy the rules set.
