Because even though he broke up he can't erase the memories and feelings inside. Even if he replaced those feelings for you with someone else, he will still think of you.
Adding alcohol to these old memories is like adding gasoline to fire. He can't think right anymore. Drinking booze is not going to change him. Deep down he might be having some awesome feelings and fondness for you. But give him a day or two of sobriety and you and him will be right back where you started! So get rid of him for good let him go.

It takes courage to go round to see someone you still love.
I cannot see why anyone would want to go round to see anyone else unless they wanted something from them.
No, it's not the best idea for them to visit you when drunk or when pthers visit people when they're unshaven or untidy but it's human.
Give them time and perhaps a bit of care- they might need you more than they let on.

Your question doesn't say much... was he/she at a Christmas Party ? were they, depressed, angry, happy, miserable, expecting you to be in the same state ?
Or as your ex, was this the only way he/she could find the confidence to confront you, meet you, talk to you, or just try and be with you again ?
If you're concerned, I'd wait till they've sobered up, to ask them face to face, why they've done this ?.
Otherwise, if this happens again and you're at work, or with friends/family on a night out, or with your b/f or g/f ? how are you going to deal with it happening again ? or even constantly ?

Because they were drunk. That is what people do when they are drunk. They make idiotic decisions. I wouldn't read too much into it.

wouldn't read anything into it whatsoeva , if you think it means he still cares about you or wants to get back coz he comes to see you drunk, its totally not, hes just after sex i'm afraid or lonely

It's a sucky tactic.

because thats what people do when their drunk. its all so they can wake up tomorrow and slowly get that sick feeling in their stomach when they remember what they did.
