I don't have a clue about video games, so i don't know which one he would like more. He obvioulsy wants a Wii and we can't get him that? Do you prefer a used game or brand new? And should I get it from Costco or Gamestop? Which do u think is better?
Thanks so much for all your help!

ITs a Christmas present, and everywhere we go its sold out and we have to wait in like for about 3 hrs. I live in Michigan and thats almost impossible to do after a blizzard. Plus it costs alot of $$$.

A PS2 is a heck of a lot less expensive, with a lot of kid-friendly games...
and Xbox has a lot more adult themed games, but still a fair variety...
A PS3 is pretty darn expensive now, with a limited game selection
If he doesn't have a PS2 I would get him that... That way if he breaks it, it isn't a HUGE loss, and you can get used games cheap for him too...

(I would go with Gamestop, they take care of their customers more than Costco would)

It all depends on your TV. A console is a console whether it's PS2, PS3, Xbox or Xbox360. These type of consoles carry almost the same type of games. If you are worried about a good console for his age, I would suggest the Nintendo Wii. If this is out of the question, you're better off getting the system that is worth the money. If your tv does not have 1080i, then an Xbox 360 is worth it. The graphics from the 360 will carry just as much a punch as the PS3 would. If your tv is HD and does produce 1080i, then you're better off with the PS3. More features and the graphics from that console are way better than the 360. Remember though, provided your tv is 1080i. PS2 and Xbox are so cheap nowadays that if you want to get him something to play to start with that's cheap, go with one of those. But as I stated prior, the games are almost all, if not all, similar to one another depending on console. But if your primary focus is something that is age specific, I would go with the Nintendo Wii. I hope this helps out. If you have any other questions, just send me an e-mail. Happy Holidays!

Well, first of all, if you can get him a PS3 why can't you get him a Wii?

Ah well, anyway, the answer to your question depends on your brother's personality. If your brother really like cool graphics and action, choose PS3. If your brother likes a ton of awesome and deep games, choose PS2. If your brother likes a little of both, choose Xbox. Considering he's seven, he'll probably like the revving action and the wondrous explosions of the PS3. But remember, it's really just your choice.

To choose used or new? Well, let's see,
New
Pros: Perfect quality. Get the full value of the game.
Cons: PRICE$$$
Used
Pros: Cheap
Cons: may be damaged, instruction booklet usually missing.

Also, last but not least, CHOOSE GAMESTOP.

P.S. If he already has a little taste of a few games, I'd choose the Wii for some thing a little different., but you reasons are still yours.

Wii is the best choice, but, since you can't get it, than PS2 is the best choice. Thousands of games around, cheap, reliable, your kid will be able to watch DVDs too. PS3 is much better, but it's more for serious gamers with a huge multimedia abilities and online capabilities, but games and accesoires are more expensive, I don't think it's good for kid of this age. For PS2 you'll be able to find tons of new and used games. Don't buy second hand consoles, though. 360 is weaker, than PS3, stronger than Wii, but it's a highly unreliable console (33% return rate). Both PS2 and PS3 have a parental lock feature if you want your kid to stay out from too violent or f@#$-bomb games. PSP is a good choice too.

play station 2, not so expensive, and forget the play station 3. 500 $ Just for the system. Xbox has too many non kid-friendly games. Get a new one if possible, its better. and go to Gamestop. Better deals

Depends on his age. PS2 is now 129
PS3 is from 399 to 500
XBox a bit below $300
Wii 270

For a child that age Wii and ps2 is more children friendly
ps3 and xbox are more for teenagers and adults

We have a 7 year old son and his uncle purchased him and XBox. The XBOX was not meant for kids. The games are very adult oriented and very difficult.

Forget all of the above choices and get him a Nintindo DS. WAAAAAY more kid friendly options. Plus the system is just plain ole more user friendly.

I don't mean to sound harsh, but isn't that a little young for video games? I think that is a big problem with kids today..they are warped from video games. Try getting him something more age appropriate.
