How often do you have to refill a zippo?

I don't smoke so I don't know. I just bought someone a zippo as a gift...& now I'm wondering how often he will have to refill it & if he will get annoyed with that...lol! And what do you use to refill them & how much are the refills?

butane or regular fluid? how much it needs to be refilled depends on how much it's used. regular fluid is pretty chep but butane costs a bit more. whenever giving a lighter, always give fluid with it. also, if it takes regular lighter fluid, it'll need flints too.

Use lighter fluid to refill it. It's very cheap, maybe 2 bucks for a 4 oz. bottle. If he smokes a lot, he might refill it once a week or so.
The flints are replaceable too, those might go out after a few months. Make sure he reads about proper refilling of a zippo. It can be a hazard. The wick should last a long time if it is exposed properly.

well, you will need to buy some zippo refil lighter fluid which comes in a dark like tin, then you refil it by taking it out and putting the red tip through the whole. The trick is to fill it up until the sponge material is slightly damp so you need to refil it as often as that may be, you can get zippo refil fluid for like 1 pound at newagents good luck x

I would actually buy a butane lighter instead of a zippo. They are also refillable but do not loss fuel due to evaporation. They also do not need a flint or a wick so if cost is your concern butane in the way to go. I have bought many to be used on stage for shows from Walgreen's and CVS. I have gotten them for as little as $.70 and upward to maybe $3.00. Butane is cheap and can also be bought at those places.

you can buy zippo lighter fluid for like $5 for 4 oz. if your a smoker, you probably fill it up like once a week depends how much he uses it

These are a lot nicer than other lighters. You can get him the lighter fluid as well as part of the gift. Depending on how often he uses it-it can last as long as other lighters.
