There's this street, at a side street off a busy 6 lane road, that's always red when I get to it, even if no cars are there to turn.
There's one exit where I get off the freeway, and I catch the green 99.999% of the time.
There's another street at an intersection where there are 2 left turn lanes, but the one on the right is also a straight lane. I need to go straight, but ALWAYS, all the left turners are in the straight or left lane, and no one turning left uses the left left lane. IS this a self-fulfilling prophecy? Can I tap into this "power"? Any similar experiences?

There is a computer that studies traffic patterns and changes to make traffic move more smoother. High traffic causes the lights to change quicker, and if traffic mostly goes one way the other light will stay red longer. Its a pain if your on the red side.

I used to commute into Manchester, England on a daily basis and on one long stretch of road the traffic lights were matched so that if you set off from one set and kept to the posted limit for that stretch of road the next set would change as you approached them .... if you speeded between lights you would hit a red one and have to wait anyway.

I think it's just the timing of the traffic light power grid :-/
