No. That's silly, committing sin just for being born. Kinda like racism, you know, they deserve to be hated because after all, they were born with a different skin color.

Have people really forgotten that while Jesus was on this earth that he loved all. It didn't matter if you were of a different race, man, women, hetero or homosexual. he loved us all. He lived and spoke of the way of God. So if God doesn't think it a sin then why should you. Stop the Hate and Just love. That is all God wants for us all. Try and remember the bible was rewritten hundreds of times and translated. Man is who wrote it and rewrote it. not all that is in it is true word anymore.

That is an outstanding question. I have been raised in the church my whole life, I know what is right and wrong. Homosexuality is an abomination according to the bible. However I am a man, and I have homosexual desires. People who are not gay and are christians, can say that if you are gay, then you should be shunned, but they just don't get it. I didn't ask to be gay. I don't want to be gay. I wasn't born this way. I just don't understand. It's an on-going debate, I wish I did understand.

This question, or rather most of the answers so far just crack me up. Especially those who say that being a homosexual isn't a sin, while acting on it is. This is one of those situations where religions skews reality. And hold on there before you start freaking out. I grew up in church, my dad was a pastor and have a solid foundation of "church knowledge" to lay some bricks here. But it isn't the church knowledge that matters. The church culture is where things go horribly wrong and most "Christians" can't see the forest for the trees. They are so caught up in the small things that they completely miss the point of who God is and what it is He actually desires for us. I am a Christian by definition, by I hardly relate to the mass movement of Christianity today, especially here in America for one simple reason. The God that I have come to know is far bigger and much more loving than the god found in most churches today. Yes there are specific bible passages that deal with homosexuality, but realistically there are far more bible passages that deal with heterosexuality and masturbation than homosexuality. If one understands the context of culture and relationships under which the bible was transcribed, then the whole meaning of what it means to be homosexual then and now becomes much clearer.

But for the sake of simplicity let's get a few things clear here. Jesus was asked at one point in his ministry what the most important commandment was. Essentially this pharasee was asking, what is the purpose of everything we believe? Jesus's answer was that we were supposed to first love God with all your heart mind body and soul and then to love your neighbor as yourself. All of the laws that man has created and misinterpreted mean nothing if we are sharing that love with eachother.

Then we look at the simple fact that sin is sin, regardless of how big or little it is. Stealing is the same as adultery is the same as murder. Furthermore, each on of us has a particular vice that we struggle with. Some covet, desire what what is not their own, others lie, others cheat, others steal, other's may struggle with lifestyle that don't reflect our own beliefs. The bottom line here becomes not so much what we believe is right or wrong, but whether we are loving the people around us as we are called to love them. You may not struggle with telling the truth, but the person next to you has a hard time not adding things in or leaving things out when they convey a message. God tells us that sin is sin and only He is the judge of these things. Who are we to stand in place of God and pass judgement on others? Sure set a standard to live your life by and strive to work towards that, but at the same time realize that your standards and understandings of life can be significantly different than your neighbors. We are called to share what we believe and live out those convictions. But never have we been called to convict or judge others. In fact we are reprimanded for doing so: "whoever of you has no sin, cast the first stone."

So the real issue here, isn't whether or not you think homosexuality is a sin, or whether you even think the act is a sin (we'll define that as anal penetration which happens in even some heterosexual marriages) the real question should be whether or not you are acting out the love that you are called to share, not the judgment that is reserved for the one who created His creatures.

Whether you think it is a sin or not, you are still called to love everyone you come in contact with regardless of where their life is at. If you aren't, then you are the one that is living in sin and THAT is what should really matter.

Quite frankly, I'm disgusted with most Christians today. Speaking as a Christian, I'm ashamed at the ignorance and arrogant stance that most Christians today take. What happen to being a people known by their love? If you are a Christian, it's time to reconsider and maybe realize what is most important about being a Christian. If you aren't a Christian, I am geniunely sorry for the disrespect and flagrant stupidity of others who call themselves followers of Jesus. They do nothing but undermine and defile his very purpose by standing in judgement of others.

Is it a sin? Frankly, who cares. We've all sinned. Wake up people!!!!

it is not a sin
sin was made up to control people
it is against the ten commandments
which is part of a book written by people who also wanted to control

if you do research you'll see that most of the bible plagarised from other religious texts anyways. it's basically egyptian and babylonian

1Jo 3:4 ¶ Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

Now that you know what sin truly is, what do you think?

It's not conducive to child bearing, that's for sure, but I haven't ever met the true judge of sin. If I do, I'll be sure to ask him for you. I don't really see as of any consequence to me.
