In truth - Yamaha is not known for it's speakers.

Make sure your receiver has the LFE or Subwoofer output turned up. (There is usually an offset setting for subwoofer volume in the receiver and a separate volume control on the sub).

Look into a second-hand sub from a respected subwoofer maker on your local Craigslist. Names to look for: SVS, HSU Research, Velodyine, Rel, Klipsch, B&W, M&K.

Or - go to PartsExpress and buy one of their Dayton subwoofer kits. ( I put a link below ). $300-$650 and some screwdriver time can give you a great subwoofer.

Well, that's like asking where 1st Street is... Depending on where you are, you'll get a million different answers.

The basic one is that the subwoofer needs to be louder. And how to do that would require me to know all about the system, specs on freq response, etc.

Bottom line, try turning it up, or turning the system lows up.

If it cost less than $100, and the subwoofer isn't much bigger than a cereal box, it is junk. The guy with the really long nickname had the answer: get a real sub.
