Well it has been going on since there was kings and queens and nobility at court. It is nothing new really. I had an aunt that had a toy poodle named Itsy. She took her everywhere with her because she loved her. It is all about the girl's motive.

As long as they take good care of them , that is their business and none of mine. I have to say that I don't see the attraction , though. I had to take mine to a wedding once in a "purse." His vet appointment was at 5 and the wedding was at 6. I was only given a few days notice about the wedding, so I didn't want to reschedule the appointment. . Since it was a very informal ,backyard wedding, I took my dog( with permission from my host). After carrying a dog purse on one arm and a baby in the other for about 3 hours , I was ready to take my dog home. Another thing about having a cute little dog in a purse is that you have to be on the lookout for children. One little girl was getting to ready to stick her hand in the hole in the purse. I caught her in time and showed her the right way to approach a strange dog,but what if I hadn't gotten her in time? To sum it all up , I think it is up to the individual owner. If they enjoy it fine, just as long as I don't have to do it.

I feel bad for the dogs. I've seen some of the "purse pooches" whose hind ends are SO horribly underdeveloped from being carried everywhere instead of walking that they hardly have any muscle mass or tone in their glutes and hind legs.
And the coat around the barrel of one Pomeranian I saw almost made me cry - it was incredibly short "baby fuzz" because of constantly being held by the owner.
Dogs have four legs for a reason. They're supposed to be running around, not carried like a fashion accessory or a trophy.

I think its unnecessary for those dog to be lugged around everywhere. I cant believe that its comfortable being stuck in a purse for an hour or more at a time. If it was me.........i would would probably wanna be at home so I can play, run, eat, drink, poop and sleep when I wanted to. I swear the dogs are just another accessory, to complement their outfit.

Dogs should be allowed to be dogs. They would much rather be walking next to their owner than cooped up in a purse. However, if the owners are taking care of them properly and allowing for exercise, then I don't think there is much wrong with it.

I think they are doing their dog a huge injustice.. Dogs have 4 legs for a reason.. they are meant to walk. Carrying a dog all the time doesn't allow them to get proper exercise, build proper muscle and they are putting them at higher risk for bone and joint problems in the future.

I was one of those! I had 4 chihuahuas when I was young. I dressed them up, took them everywhere, called them my kids. Then I had a bunch of my own kids that grew up. Now I am over 40 and have 10 chihuahuas that I take everywhere. I dress them up, let them sleep with us, ........
So I guess girls that do that are simply maternal just like me. It has to come out somewhere.

I hate them because:
1) They do not control the yapping
2) The let the dog run free, who then proceeds to take a crap on the floor
3) They (the owner) do not read the sings that unless the dog is a guide dog, it cannot come in

LOL! I have a identical problem at my school there are these two girls who deliver there rabbits day-to-day and everyday at lunch time they only sit together on the grass with their rabbits. I fairly don't know why they are allowed, the university obviously says no pets allowed, lmao
