I was just on the phone with my boyfriend and he was playing around with a knife.
I never told him I was scared of knives so I was like "Put it down NOW."
And he said "no why?"
I yelled and got really scared and started crying.
I have been threatened with knives and they TERRIFY me.
He know knows, but should I have yelled???

If he knows you are afraid of knives, and you got really animated about it, he should have no problem with you showing that you are scared of knives. Did he try to comfort you after you started crying?
If it scares you, you should try to tackle the fear though. He is someone that could be perfect to help you not be so scared of knives. Knives are not dangerous unless someone is trying to use it for ill deeds. I am not going to preach at you about that though, that is for you to conquer. If you were on the phone with him, and he was playing with a knife, why was that so scary for you, you weren't even in the same area?
No it is not wrong to express yourself with lots of emotion, that is a very admirable trait in a girl. It was not wrong to yell, but I would try to work on that fear if I were you. Good luck to you.

I was in the sort of job where people could be very threatening - a colleague in another area of the Country was killed by a guy with a knife. We were discussing this at work and I reckoned I would be a cloud of dust on the horizon if anyone pulled a knife on me.
When it actually happened a couple of years later - I totally lost it, grabbed him by the throat and had him terrified up against a brick wall yelling about what I was going to do to him; he dropped the knife!
Get out of that relationship - a knife in your face is not funny.

Its OK to be scared, now that you have explained I'm sure he will be fine. Everyone gets upset at some time.
Are you fine though? Ask yourself how much what has happened to you has upset you, and how much the thoughts about the threats effect your daily life. If the answer is "A lot", I think you should try to find someone to talk to about it - a close friend, a helpline, youth worker, or someone trained to listen.

Definately. When you get scared, you do yell without realising you are. I think I know how you feel as I am terrified of sharp knives and I wasn't threated with them. All I can think of was when my sister stabbed me with a fork on my 10th birthday because I wouldn't give her my present.

Well yea if he knows that you are scared of them because of something that happened to you then he shouldn't have done that. and anyways he shouldnt have been playing with that anyways he could have gotten hurt eventhough the boy wouldnt have wanted to. He knew u are terrifyed of knives.

No. Nothing will make me hang up quicker on my Significant Other than for Him to yell at me. If W/we're together and He yells at me, I walk out. Plain and simple with me: No yelling. My daddy yelled at me until I was 18 and left home. I swore then that nobody else would ever yell at me again. I'm now 58 and I stick to my word on that to this day.

Wait, you were on the PHONE with him, and he told you he was playing with a knife...?
In that case, yeah, yelling at something not in the room is a bit much.
However, if I totally misunderstood and he was in the room with you with it - hey, if they freak you out, then they freak you out. I wouldnt stay MAD at him because he didnt know (if he does it again now that he knows, kicking his butt and yelling at him til HE is blue in the face is totally fine)...but phobias are like that. If phobias were rational things...well, chances are most of us wouldnt have any. :)

Yelling is not good, knives are worse, are you sure this guy is the guy for you? You may want to rethink this one.

I think you sould have because even though he didnt know you like knives...But knives are very dangerous and should never be played with
