This is actually a classical Christian doctrine: "Credo quia absurdum," or "I believe it because it is absurd."

Let's just get one thing straight: Because something is completely ridiculous is NOT a good reason to believe it. And even if it was, there is no way you guys will ever out-crazy the Jews. We invented crazy. Hell, we gave you Jesus, didn't we?

And yes, yes I do think someone could make up something like Christianity. That's the point! One charismatic Jewish cult leader with a small, dedicated cadre of followers COULD make up a religion. Now, Judaism, which is based on the Torah that G-d revealed to some three million of us at Sinai, that's something someone actually COULDN'T make up, because, aside from the fact that the Jewish people haven't agreed on a single thing since (three of us can't agree on pizza toppings, let alone three million of us agreeing on a lengthy set of scriptures and a complex system of divine ordinances), it would just be too easy to shoot down if it didn't happen. That's why it has never been reproduced, and why all the subsequent monotheistic faiths (Christianity, Islam, etc.) have incorporated it as part of the foundation of their own religions.

I know my answer is so far down on the list probably no one will ever read it, but I can take some small satisfaction I knowing that I'm right anyway, and I also got to dust off an old Latin phrase that makes me laugh.

You go ahead and keep believing stuff that's so crazy it must be true, and we Jews will keep believing stuff that makes so much sense it must be true.

Saying that christianity is so crazy it has to be true isn't really a good selling point. There is some crazy stuff out there. Star Wars, Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, Superman, Peter Pan, all pretty crazy, but I don't think any of that is real.

The possibilities to to your questions are endless!!
Do I really think someone could make something like that up? Absolutely~~take a family story, eventually becoming lore, add to it through the years along with all they not only knew of, but were experimenting with...re; mushrooms and other different hallucinogens (in ancient tile paintings,Moses was depicted as picking and eating them prior to seeing the burning bush, ID'ed to have been hallucinogenic) as well as other types of herbs with symptoms manifesting themselves in wide varieties of events due to amounts ingested, etc
So, YES, possible!! Now, how high is the probability?..Why did He not help a few million of the Jews in WWII that had honored Him and gave of themselves blindly in the Faith as He had so commanded? And wasn't the Good Book written by those He had already given free will to? The Ones condemned to Sin no matter the purity in their heart and soul? Hmmm? Are you having dificulties with your chosen faith? Tis a journey of a lifetime only You can go on!! ~~~Happy Holidays and God Bless to You~~~

something like *what* up? a religion? sure. there are plenty of religions that have been created over the history of mankind. they fall in and out of fashion. if you go back and look at them, they all have a lot in common. they fulfill a basic human need to comfort ourselves by creating answers for our most fearful questions. they also motivate people, through threats of punishment, to act in ways which prevent the masses of the poor from challenging and overthrowing the few with power and wealth. they discourage question of authority, rebelliousness, introspection....although superficially they pretend to encourage those very things, through "guided" philosophical teaching and continual redirection whenever someone "gets off track" or "goes astray" or thinks outside of the religious box. They actively extoll the virtues of obedience, sacrifice, and suffering...don't go getting uppity, peasants. it's sinful!

Some of the stories in the bible did happen and certain people did exist.

The supernatural parts are so far unproven such as walking on water, turning water into wine, talking donkeys, talking snakes,
burning bushes and many more.

The only truth you can trust will come from you.

Can't base truth on craziness -think of all the crazy stories made up for TV SitComs, that would be a very flimsy idea to base ones faith on.

Read the scriptures, ask God into your heart, accept Jesus as your saviour. Only once you have made the step of faith inviting Jesus into your life can you begin to undestand the awesomeness of a personal relationship with him.

I agree! It is purposefully mind boggling so only faith can make it believable. It defies logic (the wisdom of man).
Once the first step is taken (faith) THEN it all falls into place. Those who refuse to take that first step can only trip and fall trying to understand it (Peace that surpasses understanding). If it continued to seem crazy then the intelligent believers would leave in frustration.

2.1 Billion people are just plain wrong for two thousand years running? Kinda hard to believe.
(33% of the world are Christian, 90%+ believe in (a) God)

Lol Yes, it looks crazy to the world. That's what's so beautiful about it. It's almost like it's too good to be true. God came down to earth in the form of a man, did mighty miracles, we rejected him and He offered Himself for our sins. It's crazy but wonderful.
