Jesus was liberal and was for peace and love.

If there is no god, no karma then why help others.

Shouldn't atheists be conservatives, life is in your hands not someone elses.

Shouldn't Christians be liberals, feed the poor don't fight wars, he who is without sin cast the first stone, this life isn't as important as the next so do good.

BTW I'm a conservative agnostic.

Christians aren't normally open minded, or free willed. They are confined to the "Book of the Lord". Atheists aren't bound to a singular idea. They are open minded and limitless in possibilities.
Conservative lots of the time goes hand in hand with a religious background. Yes there are exceptions but take a look at the bible belt. They aren't very liberal.

That makes sense to me.

There are more conservative Atheists then I would have thought.....

I know some very conservative atheist, and I am a very liberal Christian as are a lot of my friends. As for christians and being conservative or liberal, it is all in how you interpret the bible and salvation and what is required of you.

I wouldn't say it's strictly true, certainly I would agree that thats the general trend

I can only speak for me personally but I think I see things more in shades of grey, where as many xians are very black and white.
I dont think it matters what someone believers, who they are sexually attracted to or what they get off on as long as they aren't hurting anyone

Also we help others because it makes us feel good and we don't like seeing others in pain. To imply that people only help each other to score brownie points with the big invisible sky daddy does a diservice to believers

There are many more liberals than atheists, and the Pope is opposed to war and capital punishment, so your premise is completely flawed.

I'm an atheist and I am definitely not a liberal. Neither is Christopher Hitchens.

Conservative atheists are fairly common. They are called Libertarians.

Both instinct and analytical reasoning give you motivations to help others. You feel empathy towards them because you can recognize that they are like you, with minds and lives and feelings, and you should help them because they should help you in kind if you were ever in a sore spot, and possibly even if you knew they wouldn't be grateful.

You're over generalizing. I'm neither a 'liberal' nor a 'conservative', I'm libertarian.
