I think snowboarding is WAY easier to learn! I've been skiing since I was little, so I never really had the opportunity to try when I was older, but I've taught several friends how to ski and it took them at least two or three days before they got it down. When I learned how to snowboard last season, I picked it up in an hour and was riding down some blacks by the end of Day 1 (on the East Coast, so blues on the West). I was surprised how easily I picked it up, though. Perhaps it's because I've already skied for 13 years, but I doubt it because they're so different. Some people are just naturally good at balancing and snowboarding, so I guess it really depends on the person. If I were you, I'd try an hour of both and see which you prefer. Also, I don't think the lift was that hard with a snowboard. I didn't fall at all, even though everyone told me I would. I think that initially skiing is easier to learn, but once you get the basics of snowboarding down, you progress in the sport faster. ~ Caty
