I've just come back from visiting my husband who is in hospital and it made me realise how much we depend on the professionalism and dedication of others - doctors, nurses, surgeons, firemen, air/sea/mountain rescue volunteers and the police (yes, the guys who have to sort out the carnage after road traffic fatalities and domestic/child abuse, etc). Sometimes we take them for granted.
Can we remember them in our prayers, especially over the festive season when they will be working? Let's thank God for the invaluable service they give to society and (in some instances) for putting their lives on the line to help others.
From me to you - God bless and THANK YOU.

Yes, some on here don't believe in prayer, we know also prayer with out works is dead, and prayer changes me not God.
There are a lot of care takers to be thankful for and prayer honors them. As well the sorrowful in our world is overwhelming, hunger, abuse, war and all else.
So those that don't believe prayer does not help, so be it.
But don't knock it prayer does not hurt any thing either.
Blessings to all, a Joyous Christmas, we pray for peace and
good will.

What a lovely, uplifting question! Today I've come from a managers' meeting where they spoke of the selfless devotion of staff in care of the elderly, especially at Christmas time. They know that many elderly folk especially need familiar faces around them on Christmas day but that's when Agency staff are most drafted in - and at huge, extra expense to the Christian charity who run these elderly services. Some managers have had to stop staff voluntering to do double shifts at Christmas, for their own good! Such is the selfless devotion of Christian staff in these nursing / dementia units. God bless them all. And may families who have elderly relatives in care homes be moved to do all that they can to visit and make the day special.

Im not religious but for me christmas is a family event where we all get to spend time with each other.
Im thankful everyday for the things I have - knowing that some people dont get to spend it with their families because they are working for a good cause such as doctors/nurses/firemen/police etc...
And also people who are out at war fighting for their contries who have husbands, wives and children at home - missing their daddy or mummy and hoping that they'll be happy, stay warm and stay safe- especially at this time of the year.
I also would pray for people who are missing members of their family, people who have passed on earlier this year and their families who are facing christmas without them, and also for people who are alone because of this...
I'm greatful everyday for the life I have and the family I have around me. I know that I take these things forgranted sometimes though.
Have a happy holiday and all the best for the new year ahead of us. I hope it brings much happiness to you and everyone who is dear to you.

I pray your husband will be back home for Christmas ~ and yes you are right about praying for all you have mentioned ~ and all those serving in the military, and unable to come home for Christmas ~ also all who are homeless in this freezing weather, and the lonely and those without families~ so many people to pray for.
Oh Lord show grace and mercy on all we bring before you ~ and your peace that passes all understanding.
Thanks princess for the reminder ~ God's richest blessings to you and loved ones..

Pray for everyone in the world every day. First then therefore remember to pray for all men. It is in the bible. Pray for each and every soul on this earth and everyone to come. My brother is a doctor so he will appreciate you praying for him. He is in New Hampshire close to the coast and it is snowing. I will honor your request and pray for the people who are helping us and protecting us with their lives. God bless you.

i agree, we tend t forget these amazing people, and we also tend t forget that gave them these great skills in life. i think we should pray more for the non believers, and the greedy, and the sinful. and the ones that have no love in there hearts, they need our prayers more. god bless you hun and merry xmas.

Why not pray for those who help others at any time of the year, not just a Christmas?
