You must be living in the south-eastern portion of the U.S. They call EVERYTHING 'gravy' there if it is 'poured on top' of any food. I live on the west coast, and learned at the age of 6 (I am now 57 and married to a retired chef) the 'problems of description' where the various 'sauces' (gravy is just one of many 'sauces') is concerned. I tried to describe some sauce mixed with hamburger that we'd had for lunch at school and I had really liked it. What mother produced was 'S.O.S' (creamed hamburger on toast) when the dish I tried to describe had been 'sloppy joes.'
Gravy is any type of sauce made with meat drippings ... but it can also be 'vegetarian' when made from the 'broth' from boiling vegetables.
'Spaghetti sauce' is basically truly only any 'sauce' poured over the pasta 'spaghetti' ... marinara sauce is 'tomatoes or tomato sauce cooked with herbs, and sometimes wine and NEVER has any 'meat' in it. The type of 'meat' you use will tell you the 'name' of the sauce, even if the 'basic sauce' is marinara sauce.
Tomato sauce is just that ... tomatoes cooked to a 'runny, smooth consistency' ... tomato paste is a 'thicker' and stronger type of tomato sauce.
Salsa is the 'Spanish' word for sauce ... but there are many different countries that use salsa, and there are at least 150 different kinds of salsa ...from thick chopped cold vegetables which are either 'red' (tomatoes) or 'green' (tomatillos) ... to the hot (applying fire or other heat source) sauces that can be very thin, and come in both 'red' and 'green' and varying 'spicy-nesses' from mild to 'call the fire department before you use them' (Tobasco is actually a 'hot sauce' but is not of the 'most hot/spicy' there is).
My husband and I use only 'cheese sauce' on our 'macaroni' or 'shells' ... but if what you are eating has a 'red sauce' then you must know if there are 'herbs' in it (marinara) or 'meat' or if it's just plain tomato sauce or even 'ketchup' ...
What I suggest you do, is go to different restaurants and 'read the menus' well ... ask the waiters the 'ingredients' in the various sauces/gravies ... and then try doing some 'adventurous shopping' and buy the many different kinds of sauces, from 'gravy' to Italian, Greek, and "Mexican" or Spanish ... or from places like Guatemala and Chile, Brazil ... and HAVE FUN as you learn and grow. But DO NOT BE EMBARRASSED by your calling ALL sauces 'gravy' ... if you didn't grow up in the south-eastern U.S. the person who 'started this' in your family did ... so you may want to 'learn about that' too ...

Technically, it's spaghetti sauce. Tomato sauce is just purified tomatoes, with no spices whatsoever, and gravy is made with reduced meat broth and some seasonings.
Or it's just a word choice, whichever.
