Is the car too much? Too cheap? I need a car for college and I was looking at this. Is it a good buy? Are Hyundai cars any good?

Sounds like a good price depending on the options and miles. I would have an independent mechanic give the car a sound inspection prior to purchasing any used car and make sure to find out what upcoming or past due maintenance will be needed. The link below will give you the value of the car, I used the above posters 70K miles and the trade-in value alone was $3000, don't know why people can't use their brains before their mouths. This car could be very good for you and is all a college student needs, in 4 years you can upgrade after graduation but the Elantra is good basic transportation for now.

I had this exact same car. Overall the reliability was decent, but the power windows were notoriously trouble prone. I would stay away. The retaining clips that keep the windows up were made of plastic and very cheap, if it breaks, the windows fall down and will not stay up. That year Elantras were well known for that problem.

That's a bit much. $2k is about the max price for that year and model in good condition with 70k miles. If it has more miles, then it is worth a lot less.

Honestly, a 2000 Hyundai Elantra is going to cost you more to repair it and keep it running than its worth. It is very unreliable and problematic. I would avoid this car. For $2k more you can buy a 1995 Honda Civic that will last 10x as long as the Hyundai and it will start every morning so you are not late for class. Just passing along something to consider. Good Luck!

All depends on the mileage, options, wear and tear.

They aren't worth much in perfect condition, but if it is perfect, it may be worth more than that.

I'd offer $2000. These cars have terrible resale and trade-in values.
