You cannot legally file a tax return without a W2 until Feb 15th. H&R Block is offering an Advance Line of Credit for up to $500 for clients who are expecting a refund of at least $1000. I don't know of any other tax preparation services that are offering loans or advances on refunds. HSBC, the bank that most of them used, stopped doing this kind of lending. The only reason H&R Block can is because they have their own bank. So it is H&R Block Bank actually doing the lending, rather than an outside lender.

A tax preparer cannot legally e-file a return without seeing your W-2. Pay stubs don't have enough information to file a return anyway, in most cases.

Not before 2/15/2008 for your 2007 taxes. Anyone who says they can is actually LOANING you the money at a very high interest rate.

You will be filing your "2007" tax return, and it is due by April 15, 2008. Wait for the w2.

You better have yourself an official W-2. Upstanding tax service providers will not allow it.
