several things need to happen to get cancer not one thing causes cancer. cancer is caused by a genetic predispisotion to cell damage plus the presence of carcinogens (things that have a potential to cause cancer) reacting with eachother and the body. i have never heard of gold being a carcinogen.

Take that ring OFF your finger ... it's NOT 'real gold' because real gold doesn't 'shed particles' ... it's probably silver or a base metal that has been 'gilded' ...
GOLD can not cause skin cancer of any kind. Some metals may 'contribute to cancer' in people, but not necessarily skin cancer ... take the ring to a good jeweler and ask them to 'test the metal' and give you a GOOD written report of the 'percentages and amounts' of the metals in it, and then take the ring, the jeweler's report, and yourself to a good internist and have the internist 'look into' your worry about this ring. It may seem 'silly' but because you are 'worried' I think you should do this, because that 'worry' can actually help you to 'develop cancer' too ... better to be SAFE than SORRY.

Pure Gold does not cause any kind of cancer. Normally, an ornament of gold is made by mixing little copper in it. Even this mixture of gold and copper does not cause any kind of cancer. However, if something else is mixed with the gold for making an ornament, it will depend on the quality of the metal or alloy mixed with the gold.

NO!! People have been wearing gold rings for hundreds of years--nothing linked to that. I have a gold wedding ring, as does all the women in my family.

I doubt if it will cause cancer. But if the plating is coming off, it is probably not good to be wearing.
